Re: Nachoman's 2012 resolution challenge. - Tyson Rayles - 03-20-2012 Wow that mountain really dominates the scenery (in a good way) ! Re: Nachoman's 2012 resolution challenge. - nkp_174 - 03-20-2012 Cool rockwork with tunnels entering on different levels! Nice execution on a difficult scenic feature. It's not entirely un-prototypical for my modeling area, either. In David Myrick's book, Railroads of Arizona, Volume 3, there is a photo of a similar stacked tunnel arrangement with the Shannon Railroad and the Coronado Railroad, both 3' gauge lines. If you ever run across that book in a library, take a look through it - it's a cool reference for narrow-gauge enthusiasts. The nearby Morenci Southern Railroad, also 3', had a situation where the track passed over itself in a loop, and the lower track was in a tunnel. These were definitely "a prototype for everything" railroads! Re: Nachoman's 2012 resolution challenge. - nachoman - 04-01-2012 Well, I certainly didn't get as far along as I hoped. I've just got too many other projects and things going on right now. But, what I did get done for this challenge is a HUGE start in tackling those last nagging unscenicked areas of my layout. I got three tunnel entrances done, finished up rockwork and put down ground cover on the large hill, and put an awning on my company store. And while I didn't complete the hotel, I am at least proud I started on it, and made big decisions on how I want that whole scene to look. Sometimes just getting started is the hardest part.
