Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Gary S - 07-12-2010 Steve, what kind of lighting are you using for the photos? Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 07-12-2010 Thank you for the kind comments guys! Here is the sandpaper I used: http://www.amazon.com/3M-Automotive-MMM3019-Wetordry-Sandpaper/dp/B000CPZYC2/ref=sr_1_14?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1278991627&sr=1-14 Gus, biL was on the money, here is the car: http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/221-30228 mountaingoatgreg said: Quote:I espeically like the use of the Heki grass mats and have filed that away for future use.Use away.....I stole it from someone else : http://www.the-gauge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=46&t=169&start=105 shaygetz said: Quote:Steve wrote: LOL!!!! shaygetz...you got me! looking at it now, I should have just posted the pic "as is" .....and thank you for the kind words! Gary...I am using 5000k fluorescents......and I still could use some more light  Pics of the ground cover and details around the houses will be posted in a day or two (as soon as I get it done) Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Gary S - 07-12-2010 Steve: Are the lamps all in one place? Reason I ask is the shadow under the car. Looks very good. Lamps spread around the room shouldn't give such a crisp shadow. Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 07-13-2010 Gary, I have a string of fixtures set up end to end above the layout. Page 13 and 15 of this thread has a couple of pics of the setup Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 07-14-2010 Here are a couple of pics of the section. I am still working on it, and it is still in a bit of a "sterile" condition. I will post tighter shots as I complete areas : Re: Good things come in narrow packages - mountaingoatgreg - 07-14-2010 Steve, Awesome as always and I am glad to see the black nothing has gone away. I really like the feel of the scene and I think will really breaks up the layout. Will you be adding any type of backdrop work or are you going to leave it as is? Re: Good things come in narrow packages - P5se Camelback - 07-14-2010 Beaut-ee-ous!! Galen Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steamtrains - 07-16-2010 Well...Shucksss...A man is away for a coupl'a days, comes back and finds laundry on the line (don't know whose it is, but it aint mine.... :o ), someone parked the car in the driveway...and there is a tree growing out'a my roof...!!!!! Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Gary S - 07-16-2010 I'm praying that I can make my layout look this good. Awesome! Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 07-16-2010 Thank you very much guys! I really appreciate the kind words Gary....you CAN do it! mountaingoatgreg Wrote:SteveGreg....where the backdrop is at least partially hidden (by trees, structures etc) I will probably not mess with it. The real challenge will be where it is totally exposed (the ends of streets). I know what I want to do, but it remains to be seen if I can do it I am not going to tackle that at the moment however, I want to get the scenery done up to, and including, the river. I also have one more structure to do at this end............. I did a little more work, so here are some pics: Still need to "plant" the tree The fore mentioned structure........or at least its mock up: Re: Good things come in narrow packages - faraway - 07-17-2010 I love it! It is great looking. Re: Good things come in narrow packages - mountaingoatgreg - 07-17-2010 Steve, They are...right it keeps getting better and better!!! I know what you mean about the backdrop I am still trying to figure out what I want to do with mine. I don't want to get to far and have to remove things to get to it but that is why I have a narrow layout I would like to try the photography thing and stick pictures on there but I may also decide to try and paint it. I like the new little building what is it going to be???? Re: Good things come in narrow packages - cn nutbar - 07-17-2010 Steve---all I can say is WOW---outstanding work Re: Good things come in narrow packages - ocalicreek - 07-17-2010 Balast pile - nice choice for the front scene. Some MOW workers with shovels and a pickup truck would really set it off and tell a story. NICE difference in lawn heights. As I stare at the photos I can imagine all kinds of detailing possibilities; I'm getting drawn into the scene and that's really great. It's working! As for the backdrop - you can always try a simple paper scene inserted behind the structures and see how it looks. I think getting the perspective right (vanishing point, horizon line, etc.) is the trickiest part. How realistic you want it to look is semantics by comparison. Galen |
