Re: Indiana City - IndyCity - 08-11-2012

I got the next delivery of cork boards and so I was able to continue building on the current end at the right.

On a strip between a road and branchline will be the rest of the old ITC-yards from the interurban era. The remaining tracks will be grown strong and covered with discarded freight cars of the ITC.

The yard is disconnected everywhere at this end for many years and now new track connections were built over the old ground level.

Right next to the "old ITC-yard" is the old branch line track in the street, which is now still in use as a siding and was joined on the new track connections again.

For the pavement I used Vollmer brick boards. The rails are grooved rails in the road subgrade.

Let's see how far I can get this weekend.

Joerg, what it the u-shaped rail you use for the street running. It looks like streetcar channel rail. Is it custom made?

Keep up your good work!

Matt

Re: Indiana City - IndyCity - 08-12-2012

Matt,

i bought this grooved rail from a german dealer http://www.hobby-ecke.de/ of kits for hand laid tracks.

I think it was made by SWEDTRAM http://www.swedtram.se/eng/.

Re: Indiana City - IndyCity - 08-14-2012

Next step ist done.

The yard tracks are painted.

Then they were ballasted and arranged with grass and weed

Then i put the first of those cars on the track who will be arraned here later after detailing and been painted as old discarded ITC cars

Some yellow grass and weed is still missing. But I have to wait for a parcel of my dealer.

Re: Indiana City - faraway - 08-14-2012

That looks really great Thumbsup

Re: Indiana City - mountaingoatgreg - 08-14-2012

That dow look liek a great little scene!!!

Have you considered adding joint bars along this stretch of track, details west makes platic ones that can be glued on with CA and paitned with the same paint you painted the rail. Also on many prototype yards when a section of track becomes unused many parts are robbed from it cush as frogs, switch points, joint bars and even rail. You may consider removing some of these parts.

Keep up the great work and keep us posted!
