Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - fast car - 01-12-2012 Mal, I just purchased a Noch Grass Master and I have one quick question for you; there are two black disks both with perforated holes that came with the unit. Do these set up again the outer perforated mesh grates? I don't believe the instructions really say anything about this, but I was tired when I was reading the instructions. I believe one has approximately five holes and the the other maybe 10-15. Thank you, Larry Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - alcanman - 01-12-2012 Hi Larry, The 2 black disks (sieves) are used with the black nozzle which is used for small areas and places difficult to reach. The instuctions says 'put the sieve on the the nozzle (number on the top) and screw the nozzle on the grassmaster'. Not very clear, I agree. regards, Mal Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - fast car - 01-12-2012 Mal, Thanks again and by the way the grass looks great!! Super job. Larry Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - Len Turner - 01-15-2012 Very nice work, Mal! I'm always impressed that folks halfway around the world are not only interested in US railroading, but do an excellent job of modeling it! Thanks for sharing your ideas and excellent work. Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - faraway - 01-15-2012 alcanman Wrote:Hi Larry,Can you post a photo of the two black disks/sieves please. I did buy my grass master years ago and I have only one white sieve of the full size. I understood the black ones are for smaller sections. That would we very handy. May be I can build one myself following your photos. Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - alcanman - 01-15-2012 Hi, Len Thanks for your kind comments, much appreciated. Reinhard As requested, here is a pic of the 2 black disks (sieves) which are used with the funnel attachment (shown on left of pic) regards, Mal Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - faraway - 01-15-2012 Mal, thank you. You have a great layout. I like it! Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - Tyson Rayles - 01-15-2012 Love those last several shots on the previous page! Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - SSWUPinSA - 01-16-2012 Nice Mal, I was unsure of the static grass as I though on a small ISL it may look too uniform but you have achieved a great result. Any chance you want to tell us what process you used to get the weed and grass misxed so well as you have shown there?? Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - alcanman - 01-16-2012 Hi, As I added the static grass after the scenery had been completed, I tried to blend it in with the grass tufts which were already in place. As both products came from Mininatur/Silflor the colors were compatible. I've also add small bits of WS Fine leaf foliage for weeds. It still looks a bit too uniform, so I'll probably add more weeds. Meantime, have a closer look at the grass on my new video http://youtu.be/rdzkPntxK-8 regards, Mal Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - alcanman - 01-18-2012 Hi, Yesterday, I added a little more static grass to the beer distributor warehouse to give it an overgrown, disused look. Today, a delivery of beer has arrived. cheers, Mal Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - Tyson Rayles - 01-18-2012 Very nice Mal ! Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - fast car - 01-18-2012 Mal, Lookin very good. What length of static grass fiber are you using? It appears 4-6mm. Larry Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - alcanman - 01-18-2012 Yes, Larry The grass fibres are 4.5mm from MiniNatur/Silfor. I used a layer of 'Late Fall' , a brownish green color followed by a layer of 'Early Fall' which is a dull green . regards, Mal Re: CSX Palmetto Spur - alcanman - 01-27-2012 Hi, I've now finished adding static grass to the layout by giving the 'urban canyon' staging track an 'overgrown' look. I'm happy with the results and can certainly recommend the Noch Grassmaster. Here's some pics regards, Mal |
