Re: The Mogollon Railroad - tetters - 12-02-2010 Hey Kevin! Glad to see things are looking up. Great job on the layout and getting that facia up. The facia really gives it a "finished" look. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 12-02-2010 I don't think I have posted a photo lately looking towards the other end of the layout. I've put together some cardboard mockups of the smelter buildings, and played around with how to arrange things. As you can see, I still have a few more rails to lay, and some topography to build up. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 12-08-2010 The first few days of my new job have been busy, but that makes coming home and working on the layout all the more rewarding. I stopped by the home center and forked over 5.50 for the last piece of blue foam I need to finish my terrain. Within short order, I'll have my hills finished. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - Gary S - 12-08-2010 Kevin, how big a piece of foam did you get for $5.50? And what kind of glue do you normally use? Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 12-08-2010 Gary S Wrote:Kevin, how big a piece of foam did you get for $5.50? And what kind of glue do you normally use? It's 2' x 8' x 1". I've used liquid nails for glue before, stuff specifically listed for foam. But this time, I am using gorilla glue. Some of the liquid nails actually attacked the foam, and did not glue very strong. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - Gary S - 12-09-2010 $5.50 for that much foam isn't too bad. On the glue, I've had good luck with the new version of LocTite PL300. Takes awhile to dry, but easy to work with and holds good, even when wet. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 12-11-2010 More terrain, and more fascia. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - Gary S - 12-11-2010 Kevin, you've probably mentioned before, but what kind of "white stuff" are you using to smooth the foam? Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 12-11-2010 Sculptamold! It's great stuff! Re: The Mogollon Railroad - Gary S - 12-11-2010 I use that here and there on the layout too. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 12-13-2010 Tonight, I am celebrating. All the rough terrain is in place. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - tetters - 12-13-2010 Congratulations! Re: The Mogollon Railroad - ocalicreek - 12-13-2010 Congrats! Each step is a milestone - enjoy it! Galen Re: The Mogollon Railroad - nachoman - 01-01-2011 At the request of Gary, here is a progress photo of a bunch of plaster rocks, nearly ready to paint. Re: The Mogollon Railroad - Ralph - 01-01-2011 All right! Really coming along! I'm looking forward to seeing that bridge scene take shape! Ralph |
