Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - andersley - 03-21-2010

The 642 brings the empty hoppers off the non-electrified line from the low level sidings onto the main line
[Image: stonerun01.jpg]

...and arrives in the station where an electric loco is waiting to take the train onwards
[Image: stonerun02.jpg]

The Duro leaves the hoppers and the 189 takes over

the 189 departs....

....and after a circuit of the layout, arrives in the freight loop

where it leaves the hoppers for shunting
[Image: stonerun03c.jpg]

The Kamnolom Anderslej shunter pushes the hoppers towards the loader
[Image: stonerun04.jpg]

Three wagons are placed in the far track
[Image: stonerun05.jpg]

and the other three pushed under the loading shute

when the first three are loaded, the others are collected and loaded
[Image: stonerun08.jpg]

after running round, the loaded train is pushed into the siding for collection by an electric locomotive
[Image: stonerun09.jpg]

then the 189 couples ready for the return run

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - andersley - 03-21-2010

after a circuit of the layout, it arrives on the inner track where it will hand over to the waiting Duro
[Image: stonerun11.jpg]

which takes the train onto the non-electrified track down to the sidings for unloading

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - Catt - 03-21-2010

Very nice sir.I like those hoppers, and the Duro looks like it would make an easy US Gen Set conversion.

Rest of the layout is looking fine too.

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - faraway - 03-21-2010

That is a great operating layout.

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - andersley - 03-21-2010

Thanks guys. I had an operating stone loader on a previous Belgian layout which I showed at various exhibitions. Viewing public loved the operation, so I was determined to have one on this layout. Goldth

Thanks for letting us ride along! I like the operations scheme!
Ralph

Cheers with Ralph, and it's always nice to have an operating scheme where you can actually see the movement of the commodity, from supplying the empties, to loading, and then delivery to the final destination. Thanks for the ride. Goldth

Very impressive Alan---a wonderful combination of great modelling, photography and operational possibilities Worship

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - andersley - 03-29-2010

Now made a video of the operation.

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - faraway - 03-29-2010

That is really great. I am impressed how realistic and controlled the cars are filled. The complex mechanic of the conveyor belt makes the difference Thumbsup

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - nachoman - 03-29-2010

Nicely done. And, you inadvertently answered one of my questions about electrified railroads in europe - whether industries had overhead wires or they needed a diesel to switch cars.

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - andersley - 03-29-2010

Kevin, on the stone loaders I used as a prototype to copy, the tracks had catenary, but this would obviously not be under the loaders and would finish before them. So locomotives could not go beneath the loaders, except for diesels, of course. For simplicity I made my loader tracks diesel worked only. Wink

Re: Stone trains in operation on Anderslej - andersley - 03-29-2010

Just checked photographs of the loaders at Verd, and the catenary terminates well short of them, so they are diesel worked and trains then placed in electrified sidings for collection by electric locomotives.
