found this photo of a early fith wheel camper. shure looks like it might be a old street car or a old wooden passenger car. whay do you think ?

Dave i was thinking(ok a dangerous thing) of a bit of a different idea
from the look of the two on the tractor i was thinking of a early pair of lot lizards.

a pic (tourist shot) of a local attraction (really nice for a after pubcrawl snack tho)
for oldtimers from the old gauge- that remember a mod called woodie from years ago from oz- thats just around the corner from where he used to be!!!

I am no longer in that area (woodie was last I heard tho)
there were several ex nsw railways carrages in the area that were being used as shops, trailers and even houses (Bangalow, Lismore and The Channon)
as well as buses,trams etc in the nimbin area (AEC double deckers, leyland buses(blue and green) I have seen commonly, and even a few atlanteans and a single vic tram on blocks up in the hills of nimbin)

In the 30's-40's and 50's our local steel mill could not find enough workers. They hired many from the south but had trouble finding homes for so many. On a corner of the property they lined up old box cars and painted them gray. They were free to use but they had to be converted for living by the workers. Many families grew in silver city. Our local paper just did an article last year on this but I can't find it on line right now.

sounds ike the mac camps at the mines
(this is one of the two I stay at when I am on site)
they basically have about 10 acres covered with what at first glance appear to be rows of shipping containers (they aren't, but are special housing units designed to be like containers- they can put two on a semi or 1 on a tilt tray and deliver to site
3 rooms per `container' each with its own aircon,tv, fridge and onsuite shower and toilet)
