CNJ's Bronx Terminal - e-paw - 04-16-2010 After ordering some supplies for hand laying turnouts from Fast tracks I found this link. http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/indloco/crrnjbxt.html It's a hole bunch of info on the CNJ's car float terminal the the Bronx NY. There is a video towards the end of the page that shows the owner of Fast tracks HO scale recreation of the facility. It's filled with some really cool stuff and some of the best hand laid track I've ever seen. Re: CNJ's Bronx Terminal - tomustang - 04-16-2010 ![]() There's the round loading facility you were talking about Re: CNJ's Bronx Terminal - Ralph - 04-16-2010 That is an amazing little scene! Incredibly efficient use of space! Ralph Re: CNJ's Bronx Terminal - Steamtrains - 04-16-2010 That scene turned out great..!! And you blended it perfectly with the backgorund...Nice job.... Seriously...I've never seen such tight radius curves on the real thing....It's almost "model-like".... It isn't surprising that the track diagram for this area has shown up in at least one Issue of "Model Railroad Planning", and i know there are Boxcab Diesels and 44 tonners that can handle those curves. I think it said the curves in real life really are close to the standard radius used in models, and i think they had it set up to fit on a 4x8. Re: CNJ's Bronx Terminal - scubadude - 04-19-2010 Gee thanks....now I want to change my plans again and model that whole awesome scene! Thanks for the web link, that is the coolest freight warehouse I have ever seen! Re: CNJ's Bronx Terminal - Sumpter250 - 04-19-2010 Even if one chooses to model something other than the Bronx Terminal, there's some great features that could be modified slightly, to achieve a believable scene. The "round" freight house is superb. The detail on the railroad tugs is super, and the concept that the Harlem River tugs were a lower profile to get under the swing bridge, is useful as well !! great link! How many times, as a kid, I traveled through "Da Bronx", and never knew this existed...wow! |
