Keep up the good work, Reinhard. Your efforts will eventually convince me to weather my yellowbonnets also. I also like the "patch job" CSTR on the reporting marks. My shortline is the Almeda Terminal and Gulf, which was going to either be a "paper" shortline owned and operated by the ATSF, or it was going to be in a stretch where it was leasing ATSF power. But nothing wrong with patching an ATG onto them either.

Have you ever given any thought to taking some really fine grit sandpaper and fading the lettering that way?

I did use that technique on some boxcars and liked the result. I am still not brave enough to do it on an engine... But you are right, that would be the right treatment for a third hand engine that got never repainted.
