Steve, what kind of lighting are you using for the photos?

Excellent work...

LOL!!!! shaygetz...you got me! Thumbsup looking at it now, I should have just posted the pic "as is" Icon_lol .....and thank you for the kind words! Wink

Gary...I am using 5000k fluorescents......and I still could use some more light  Wink

Steve:

Are the lamps all in one place? Reason I ask is the shadow under the car. Looks very good. Lamps spread around the room shouldn't give such a crisp shadow.

Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 07-13-2010

Gary, I have a string of fixtures set up end to end above the layout. Page 13 and 15 of this thread has a couple of pics of the setup Thumbsup

Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 07-14-2010

Here are a couple of pics of the section. I am still working on it, and it is still in a bit of a "sterile" condition. I will post tighter shots as I complete areas Thumbsup :

Steve,

Awesome as always and I am glad to see the black nothing has gone away.
I really like the feel of the scene and I think will really breaks up the layout.
Will you be adding any type of backdrop work or are you going to leave it as is?

Ya mean it gets better?!? Eek 2285_

Dadgum! I bet many folks would be thrilled to take a scene to that level of completion. Excellent work!

Greg....where the backdrop is at least partially hidden (by trees, structures etc) I will probably not mess with it. The real challenge will be where it is totally exposed (the ends of streets). I know what I want to do, but it remains to be seen if I can do it Wink
I am not going to tackle that at the moment however, I want to get the scenery done up to, and including, the river. I also have one more structure to do at this end.............

I did a little more work, so here are some pics:

Still need to "plant" the tree Big Grin

Re: Good things come in narrow packages - faraway - 07-17-2010

I love it! It is great looking.

Re: Good things come in narrow packages - mountaingoatgreg - 07-17-2010

Steve,

They are...right it keeps getting better and better!!!

I know what you mean about the backdrop I am still trying to figure out what I want to do with mine. I don't want to get to far and have to remove things to get to it but that is why I have a narrow layout Thumbsup
I would like to try the photography thing and stick pictures on there but I may also decide to try and paint it.

I like the new little building what is it going to be????

Re: Good things come in narrow packages - cn nutbar - 07-17-2010

Steve---all I can say is WOW---outstanding work Thumbsup

Re: Good things come in narrow packages - ocalicreek - 07-17-2010

Balast pile - nice choice for the front scene. Some MOW workers with shovels and a pickup truck would really set it off and tell a story. Thumbsup

NICE difference in lawn heights. As I stare at the photos I can imagine all kinds of detailing possibilities; I'm getting drawn into the scene and that's really great. It's working! Big Grin

As for the backdrop - you can always try a simple paper scene inserted behind the structures and see how it looks. I think getting the perspective right (vanishing point, horizon line, etc.) is the trickiest part. How realistic you want it to look is semantics by comparison.
