Re: Good things come in narrow packages - doctorwayne - 08-17-2010 It's been "pop" around these parts for as long as I can remember. Wayne Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steamtrains - 08-18-2010 biL...I lived in Madison for close to 11 years waaayyyyy back when. That's about the only place I've ever heard it. The "bubbler" as well.... Grin, Stein, who says "pop" when in Minnesota Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Sumpter250 - 08-18-2010 Steamtrains Wrote:P.D. "Pop"...I haven't seen/heard that word in ages.... It's actually quite common in this part of Illinois too. I do remember when it was " soda pop ". Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Trucklover - 08-21-2010 Steve that little shack looks amazing! And I love the chalk details you added to the street in that picture you posted a few pages back Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 08-22-2010 Thank you guys!.........we say POP here as well Rose's has finally recovered from the infamous "Blow Dryer incident" I have re-done the store front and added the porch posts. I will be adding more signage after I get the gas pumps and other details done.....I want to make sure that I don't over-do it Natural light: Next up......the gas pump island Re: Good things come in narrow packages - P5se Camelback - 08-22-2010 BE-EWE-TI-OUS!
... Bloody Splendid!!
Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Gary S - 08-22-2010 Steve, one little thing that sets this apart is the rails on the back steps. They look "right", not too big for the scale, just right. All-in-all, another wonderful structure. Re: Good things come in narrow packages - cn nutbar - 08-22-2010 Steve---I've run out of superlatives to describe your work Re: Good things come in narrow packages - mountaingoatgreg - 08-22-2010 Steve, Amazing as always !! I am really looking forward to seeing this little building all done sitting on the layout ready to take care of the town folk. Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steamtrains - 08-22-2010 Beat ya'.... Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Sumpter250 - 08-23-2010 That building is just neat enough that it may start showing up across the country! A "chain" store........and maybe even one that actually sells chain! Gary S Wrote:Steve, one little thing that sets this apart is the rails on the back steps. Now that, ( They look "right", not too big for the scale, just right. ) is the real trick to a good looking model. Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 08-27-2010 Thank you everybody! I really appreciate the encouragement and kind words I have planted Rose's on the layout. The gas pumps, oil cans/barrels, and Pepsi chest are from JL Innovative. The additional signage was found online and shrunk to size. I have modernized the gas island with era appropriate pumps and I also added an old style Sunoco sign. I chose Sunoco because that brand was on one of the proto pumps: Mr. Rose is not so young any more, but he is still on the job........and he wouldn't have it any other way! Now, what worries me is that as you near completion of your layout, you're going to get the "Kurt" bug and tear this one down and start a new one! |
