" Re: Good things come in narrow packages - mountaingoatgreg - 03-01-2015 Everybody loves Cake...Acme or otherwise. I look forward to updates on you new building and other layout updates. Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 03-04-2015 Greg, I have some windows and stuff ordered for it, so I should be able to get going pretty soon.....hopefully this weekend Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 05-05-2015 I completed Acme (did a build thread in the "scratch-building" forum). Here it is on the layout: I have one structure left to do for the layout. I haven't picked it out yet, so that will be my next mission. I don't want to get started on ground-cover until I get the structure in place. I heavily darkened the soil in the yard area, and I want to make sure that I blend the new stuff in a natural looking way. This is the building I need to find: Re: Good things come in narrow packages - ak-milw - 05-05-2015 Nice job Steve!! Re: Good things come in narrow packages - faraway - 05-06-2015 It looks very realistic. The chipped paint is great. Reinhard Awesome job Steve , the cake factory really makes me want to build a building, very unusual for me Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 05-18-2015 Gus, you are always welcome here! Thank you for the kind words Deano, Chris, and Greg!! Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Painkiller - 06-09-2015 Looking good and this is a very inspiring thread!!! Keep posting! Re: Good things come in narrow packages - Steve - 05-08-2016 After another looooong hiatus........ I have picked the last structure on the layout. The building will be a nondescript brick factory with a static tank car as the main focus (or scene of interest): https://www.flickr.com/photos/36106399@N04/5540844265/in/pool-1408456@N24/ I think you can see how this will fit right in to the flow of the layout and bring a little visual interest to a background building that is no longer served by rail. There is still the little scrap yard to do in front of this building, but I think I will be using a little shed that I made a while back.....we shall see. I need to dig out all of my modeling "stuff" and see what I have to build this. I will definitely need a tank car and I have found some appropriate smaller ones available online. I believe that I have the brick sheets and windows I need on hand so that would definitely speed up the process. Now to start digging |
