A very punny thing - Charlie B - 08-28-2010

I have wondered for years about names/jobs. We used to have a director for our district of the Ohio Dept. of Transportation whose name was Clark Street. Goldth , and seeing Ralph's sign for Mike RaPhone got me thinking that with the wit and genius of a lot of group members here that we could come up with some great ideas for model railroad enterprises. I'll post one I've come up for an example to get it started.

We use to have a UPS delivery guy named, Kent Clark, they say that he ran his route faster than anyone and earned him the nickname, "Superman"... Gee I wonder why...

How about, "Clark Kent's Speedy Delivery Service"?

When I was in basic training at Ft Dix, we had a guy whose name was Richard Hed. "Call me Rich" he always said. Guess you know what name he didn't want to be called.

Years ago when I was into N scale, I had a rail served micro brewery, named Mike Rowe's Brewery(Home of Pink Elephant Beer). I was going to put one on the HO scale layout, but then Dirty Jobs started to air. Didn't think it was right to use that name anymore.

used G.N. Nutz &Sons sporting goods and in the challange E.M. Beszler savings and loan the others i plan on are Lot O. Roughten fruit and produce co. , S.C. Rotum bag ans sack co. , G.M. Reaper mourtuary , Cow Plop stock yard and spilled milk creameary.

Almost all of my industries and businesses are named for family and friends. My sister married a guy whose last name is "Schoch." So receiving shipments in boxcars is Schoch Electrical Supply.

I once saw a layout that had a business called "Lie,Cheatn Steel Company", There are also a couple of people in my Town in Real life with last names that fit their professions, there is an acupuncturist named "Dr.Ding", then there is a Financial expert with the last name of "DeeKline".

I noticed that in a recent MRR magazine, someone used the infamous law firm of "Dewey, Cheetum and Howe" on one of their office buildings. The did manage to get Ima S. Windler to go Scott free from what I've heard. Cheers
