Re: Merry Christmas - ezdays - 12-20-2010 From Peggy and I. The photo is a model of the Chapel of the Holy Cross in Sedona, Arizona that I made for one of our challenges a few years ago. It is a predominate and cherished feature of my N scale layout. Re: Merry Christmas - steinjr - 12-21-2010 Happy Winter Solstice (today!) and Merry Christmas (on the 24th or 25th or whichever day you guys celebrate)! Longer days again from tomorrow - hooray ! Grin, Stein, down to a little under 6 hrs of sunlight today :-) Re: Merry Christmas - FCIN - 12-21-2010 Merry Christmas everyone! Look's like we're going to have a White Christmas here this year! All together now... "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas..." Re: Merry Christmas - doctorwayne - 12-21-2010 Merry Christmas to all my friends here at Big Blue. I hope that Santa's good to each and every one. Wayne Re: Merry Christmas - nachoman - 12-21-2010 And let's not forget Festivus on the 23rd! BTW, Stein - thanks for the solstice reminder. Those who suffer from seasonal depression would do well to remember that day Re: Merry Christmas - doctorwayne - 12-22-2010 nachoman Wrote:And let's not forget Festivus on the 23rd! Thanks for the reminder - time to re-open the pool. Wayne Re: Merry Christmas - cn nutbar - 12-22-2010 Merry Christmas to my "extended family" at Big Blue---wishing you and your families all the best Re: Merry Christmas - nachoman - 12-22-2010 Wayne - re-open the pool? Do you plan on doing a little curling? Re: Merry Christmas - cn nutbar - 12-22-2010 nachoman Wrote:Wayne - re-open the pool? Do you plan on doing a little curling? Kevin---the pool will also be used as a hockey rink and ice-fishing.Knowing Wayne,he might even take a plunge on New Year's day Re: Merry Christmas - steinjr - 12-22-2010 Well, if the ice on the pool isn't quite thick enough, Wayne could possibly combine both ice hockey and swimming :-) Only one day Christmas over here - our big day is the 24th. The "big date" for the kids of all age is the xmas eve (24th) here in Germany. That is when the candles on the xmas tree will be inflamed and the gifts are presented and unwrapped. Most families have a tradition to serve at that evening a relative simple dinner (e.g. sausages with potato salad) only to make sure the wife/mother is not buried with work in the kitchen. 25th and 26th are very prominent days to visit relatives and get visits from close relatives. That are the dates when the lunch will run "full throttle" (and the lady stays in the kitchen... until she gets some help ). We expect to have new heavy snow fall in south Germany starting some time Friday. That might be a problem to visit my brother and his family and to get back by car during the night on Friday xmas eve. Re: Merry Christmas - nachoman - 12-22-2010 faraway Wrote:Merry Christmas to all of you and my all your wishes come true. My mom's family are predominantly german descendents, and their traditions are similar to this. The 24th is less formal with one-pot meals and the 25th is more formal.
