Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 02-14-2010 Well we moved a little further along today, just need to complete the center of the tracks. Build a few dozen(read hundreds) trees and ballast. Maybe later I can even get some roadbed glued down. [albumimg]2169[/albumimg] [albumimg]2170[/albumimg] Re: The New Layout - Trucklover - 02-16-2010 WOW! Those hills look great!! Keep up the great work Re: The New Layout - TrainNut - 02-16-2010 I think it looked good before (darker), but now, it looks really good. Have you ever seen the Woodland Scenics tutorial on coloring Hydrocal rocks? Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 03-03-2010 Well still plugging away at it, Making trees, looooooooooooooooots of trees. These are some of the 40 or so trees i made tonight for the front section of the layout where you can easily tell the difference between a toothpick with a ball of foliage on it and these. The bases will be removed before planting and some different stains will be applied to the trunks just before planting. [albumimg]2275[/albumimg] [albumimg]2276[/albumimg] [albumimg]2277[/albumimg] I will snap some shots once they are planted. Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 03-03-2010 Well I stuck a few in to see how it would look. Re: The New Layout - screen48 - 03-04-2010 Great progress - look forward to more! Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 03-04-2010 Brakie Wrote:TW,What size trees did you use? There the Woodland Scenics 3/4" to 2" bag. Re: The New Layout - ocalicreek - 03-05-2010 Here's a tip I once used to fool my friends and family: Plant as many more trunks as you have already trees, but behind and among the trees already there. This will increase the size of your forest greatly. I was planting on a ridge line and just stuck a dozen twigs in the hillside, followed by as many actual trees. My friend wondered how I had managed to make so many trees so quickly, and was impressed when I pulled a few of the real trees out to reveal the trunks. In your case against a backdrop you could even just paint an area as high as the forest a darker color with a few trunks painted on and a few twigs planted infront for an effective illusion. Looks great! Galen Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 03-05-2010 Well tonight we made a little more progress. First I started to plaster the hills around the mine. [albumimg]2280[/albumimg] And started to get ballast into this area. [albumimg]2281[/albumimg] Re: The New Layout - Steamtrains - 03-06-2010 Looking really good..!!
