Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 03-22-2010

Well I thought I posted this last night, I guess I only hit preview not submit.

Sunday was a fairly productive day. Made the base forms for the next section of scenery.

Now with the last section of scenery I did, I used Scenic Express plaster cloth. Was the first time I had tried this type of product as I tend to use some of the older techniques I was taught growing up. Mainly strips of newspaper dipped in plaster. I thought it went well, For this section though I used the WS plaster cloth and wow what a difference. Much better coverage and quality. And its a dollar less than the scenic express cloth.

Now onto placing the rock castings. I did also manage to get 2 kits painted with primer as well.

Well managed to get a little more done this weekend. Laid out about 15 feet of roadbed and glued everything down.

Then continued on to scenery, started adding the rock mold to the unfinished end of the mine area.

Then made added about 2 feet of plaster the the mountain in the next room.

Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 10-17-2010

Well It's been a long time since I updated this thread... Hope everyones summer was well.

I did get a few things done over the summer, One loop of the mainline is completed and running. Worked on a few kits as well, pictures to follow in a few days. Tonights adventure after cleaning a few dust bunnies off the layout was the backdrop. It started with the removal off the trees from the hillside( A 4 legged furball helped do this over the summer too!!!) And we get the following.

Then an hour or so later

Tomorrow I will start to define the edges a little more. Need some more supplies first though.

Nice work on blending the mountains with the backdrop. Keep us posted on your progress.

Re: The New Layout - Herc Driver - 10-23-2010

That's really looking good! I like the transition from the scenery to the painted hills too.

Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 01-09-2011

Well its been a while since I updated anything here.

After the last post I started to add some haze to the horizon and it went horribly wrong....... Wallbang

So we started again.

Here is today at lunch.

And here is 10 minutes before posting this.

So now its time to Re Plant a few hundred trees.

Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 01-18-2011

Well I managed to get a few trees planted the other night.

Re: The New Layout - ngauger - 01-18-2011

Nice!! The trees really add depth to the scenery Smile Smile

Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 01-26-2011

And some clouds. Looks a little distorted in the picture due to the curve in the backdrop here.

Re: The New Layout - Trains Winnipeg - 01-27-2011

And today we carry on,
