I never have figured out the exact function of a "chat room" connected to a forum? :?:

Real time conversation versus post - wait - read reply - post reply - wait - wait... Wink

Chatting in real time is fun. I like the option of hopping in there when ever there is a few people on-line. The conversations don't necessarily have to be on-topic either. Thumbsup

To be sure, the times that I've been in chat, the conversations are rarely on topic. There are times when it's confusing, posting something while someone is replying to a post a few minutes ago, or two and three conversations going on at once that have to be sorted out. But all in all, it's kinda like one big coffee break. Popcornbeer

Guess I never got the bug. There is a Five Star Bar and Grill on one of my forums for those who have been around long enough to attain Five Star ranking which serves the same function, but no one ever seems to have anything meaningful to say that hasn't been thoroughly debated on the actual forum. It's nice, but mostly redundant and little used.

We've been using the Chat Room for a while now.. A few of us think it's time to set up a "Formal" Chat night... (Thanks LiveSteamer)

It seems that most of us are able to get in there on Sunday nights, from 10 - 11 PM Eastern Time, so we'll start with that...

Everyone that would like to chat with each other "real time" try to be there.. If you can't make it Sunday nights, A few of us are oline most every night at the same times...

The main trouble with being in a chat room is if you are not a typist, just one finger and having to hunt. I got in one once and by the time I wrote something, the subject had changed. Besides, if I try to write too much, I forget what I was trying to say. The speed of conversation here is like a race car to me. 357 357

Yeah, typos are a way of life in a chat room, just ask Mikey. Eek Eek But they are readily overlooked as well. Sometimes it's hard to keep up when there are several other conversations going on at the same time, but I guess it's like going to a party where there are people all over the place talking about different things, you migrate to where your interests are at that time. I don't go into chat that often, I should, but I seem to get involved in other things and never seem to think about it at the time I know others are there. That's my loss I guess, it's a nice way to get to know more about other people here, more than you can learn by reading posts.
