Re: Watch out! Black & whites! - cn nutbar - 02-18-2010 Great shots Charlie and Harry---time to get back on the bandwagon---here's another shot of CNR mike #3254.In the background an EG&E passenger train passes through the industrial district. Re: Watch out! Black & whites! - andersley - 02-18-2010 Wonderful shots! Steam-era shots always look better (more authentic) in monochrome, I suppose because most pictures taken in that time were in b&w. I have a friend who is a professional photographer and loves taking black and white images now. He says if an image is good enough, it does not need colour. 8-) Re: Watch out! Black & whites! - cn nutbar - 02-24-2010 Thanks for your kind remarks Alan.I also like the effect of black and white shots when photographing steam locomotives.Truth be told, the majority of my shots are actually coloured shots which have been edited. Here's another example Re: Watch out! Black & whites! - Steamtrains - 02-27-2010 CN...Those steamers of yours make me want to bang my head on the edge of the layout.... Just gorgeous..!! More so in B&W..... Re: Watch out! Black & whites! - Charlie B - 02-27-2010 Here is a series of pictures from February, 1978. The first train had stalled in Summit cut ( a fairly common occurrence in the PC/early Conrail days) So the power was cut off the following train to get him over the hump. It was normal for many heavier east bounds to have helpers on them. They would put them on at Alliance. Charlie Re: Watch out!
