Hello Everyone---I really like black and white pictures because they're timeless---this picture could have been taken during the 40's or the 50's

Vintage photo of an interesting industry located in Eugene Oregon, tucked away in the industrial area of town this small industry takes unfinished lumber in boxcars and finishes it into moulding and other finished wood products. Although this part of town has really changed I am really glad I was able to grab this shot.

Took me several looks before I realized the 'second story' above the millwork sign is just painted on the backdrop. Wow. Amazing.

That's when you know the weathering is "right" ... when it looks believable in B&W!

Nice job, Greg! Thumbsup

Re: Watch out! Black & whites! - doctorwayne - 11-14-2010

Good-looking picture and model, Greg, but a couple of minor points if you're looking for prototypical accuracy. It's difficult to read, but if the re-weigh date is May 1942, the Gothic paint scheme is too modern. If, on the other hand, the re-weigh date is May 1962, the Gothic lettering is correct, but the Andrews trucks are an anachronism, having been banned from interchange service in 1954.
As an aside,a similar paint scheme was also applied to some wood-sided cars after 1960, although the SP herald was the older style bar-within-a-circle. The scheme on your car dates from 1962.
These minor points certainly don't diminish your very convincing photo, though. Thumbsup Thumbsup

Wayne,

Wow I had no idea...this was just what came with the kit from Intermountain. I have some other trucks sitting around that I can quickly change these out. I guess these will go in the box and may find there way under a MOW box...
Thanks again for the pointer I will be making the changes shortly!!
