Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 05-18-2014 Designed in SketchUp, and printed on an Afinia printer. The design is based on a Frisco section house plan. Design and construction details can be seen at: http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/05/frisco-section-house-3d-printed-in-ho.html Re: Desktop 3D printers - AF350 - 05-20-2014 Here is the N scale hoppers in pics painted and loads installed, their new owner will have to come up with trucks to complete them. Yes that is Styrofoam all over the wall everywhere else on the bench Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 06-10-2014 I printed this based on a local well, and Vac-U-Formed the roof using forms I designed and 3d printed. Obviously, still best not to make the mistakes in the first place. Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 06-23-2014 A couple stone arch bridges I designed and printed. Both HO scale. Design and construction details can be seen at: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/06/stone-arch-bridges-3d-printed-down-on.html">http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/06/ston ... wn-on.html</a><!-- m --> Re: Desktop 3D printers - AF350 - 06-27-2014 Deck house for an O scale boat called the Ruby Belle. and some test of building flats idea no particular scale just a test of concept at the moment, if I can get the drawing to come out and the printer to behave(it does most of the time)at the same time will try making a RTV mold of a building flat just for fun. Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 06-27-2014 Looking good Re: Desktop 3D printers - AF350 - 06-27-2014 With each new print and project I learn a little more about what works for my 3D printer, I can see designing backdrop buildings and casting copies of them with in reach. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- makerbot has a new color called army green kinda olivish color, not sure if it is available in both ABS and PLA. If I do produce some castings to sell I am limited to small buildings due to build platform size, may get another 3D printer sometime down the road maybe a TAZ 3D printer with a bigger platform, no rush on it though. Maybe I could do a modular building wall componant approach, as far as castings I wonder if resin or hydrocal would be a better material for a detailed building? As for scales I am thinking TT, HO, S, and O scales as G would be too big for my printer and N and Z maybe too tiny for details. Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 06-29-2014 Barrels of Fun in HO, S and O scale Finished pictures can be seen here: http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/06/barrels-wood-and-steel-ho-s-and-o-scale.html Re: Desktop 3D printers - AF350 - 06-29-2014 Nice work. Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 08-24-2014 While I was playing with printing glass blocks, I ran across a neat building that I thought would be good practice. More construction details can be seen at: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/08/memphis-store-front-3d-printed-glass.html">http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/08/memp ... glass.html</a><!-- m --> and the 3d printed version Re: Desktop 3D printers - nvrr49 - 08-29-2014 This is an HO scale building based on a bank building in Chilhowee Missouri. I will be presenting a clinic at the National Narrow Gauge Convention next week on using a 3d home based printer. Also one on using SketchUp to design items. Design and construction detail for this building can be seen at: http://nvrr49.blogspot.com/2014/08/chilhowee-state-bank-3d-printed-in-ho.html Re: Desktop 3D printers - AF350 - 09-17-2014 Out of plastic for 3D printer, will have to get some more this week or weekend. Been playing with sketch up and have a chassis for a 40 foot box car drawn, now I am trying a 3rd attempt to make a box car in S to 3D print, with a few things I have learned in the first two attempts I am thinking the 3rd version will be a winner then on to getting a nice roof to match the above. |
