Tehachapi Loop By (Model) Airplane - thecitrusbelt - 06-03-2013 Courtesy of Mel Perry, here is what you get when you combine a love of trains, a model airplane and today’s technology: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLb_99f_ ... r_embedded Thank you, Mel!!! Mark And..........to think there are "persons" who wish to outlaw the use of "drones" ! :o :o Great "footage" Re: Tehachapi Loop By (Model) Airplane - Green_Elite_Cab - 06-06-2013 I was wondering when someone would try this. These Quad-rotors (more a helicopter than a plane) seem to be the new popular RC flying vehicle. They seem to be more stable than the typical airplane or RC helicopter. They also seem like they can carry more of a payload. "RTR" examples of quadrotors with cameras are pretty steep in price, but on the other hand, the parts to build a quad rotor are available for a fraction of the price, so my guess is that any aviation savy person can probably build one. I used to know a site with instructions on just how to do this. They said their version would cost about $300-400 in parts, far less than purpose built camera-quadrotors. it was built using modular helicopter parts (rotors, gyroscopes, radio receiver modules, etc) and spars built from aluminum tubes and such. Re: Tehachapi Loop By (Model) Airplane - Steamtrains - 06-07-2013 That is amazing....!! So...To model that in HO scale you would require a room the size of the state of New Hampshire.... |
