Good morning Blue
The temp is 33, first time in a week that I don't feel cold all the way through.
Nothing new from the train store. But a good chat with some of the guys last night.

Good morning folks, I hope the bad winter weather has cleared up for you, I keep seeing scenes on the TV that are bone-chilling, cars stuck in ice, buildings that looked like one big icicle, and vehicle accidents galore. The only people that are going to gain by all this are the auto body repair shops.

FiatFan Wrote:...Don - I have one of those wired indoor/outdoor thermometers and I remember waking up one morning and it read -199. Talk about wanting to turn over and go back to sleep! Replaced the battery and it still works fine. My wife picked up two of them one year after Christmas for 10 cents apiece. Hers lasted about a week and quit working. I still have my 15 years later....Tom

Tom, Yeah, the batteries check out good and the outdoor temps worked just fine as well. That is, until I tried to move the part of the wire that was outside. It crumbled in my hand, as did the sensor... it just couldn't take about eight years of the Arizona sun. Not a bad ROA, but not as good as yours. Still, my new one has a display with numbers that are over 1 1/2" high, and at my age, that's a good thing... Smile

Good afternoon. It's 58° with 100% humidity. The high will be 65° with a slight chance of thunderstorms.

My father and I went to town this morning to do some shopping. We got some groceries, a twin size bedding set (comforter, sheets, etc)and a new twin mattress as my old one was long gone and I was using old Walthers flyers to keep the springs out of my back. I got the old mattress out and the new one in but it was a fight. The hallway is only about two feet wide (that's being generous) so pulling them through there was a job. The mattress is on the bed but there's some books and video cassettes between it and the box spring. That kind of thing happens when the shelf the stuff was on gets knocked over. I'll fish it all out of there at a later time. Today I'm too darn tired. Getting to and from town was an adventure in itself. My fathers pickup is a '92 Ford F150 Lariat. It looks good but Mr Murphy is alive and well and he lives in the fuel injection system. I lost count of how many times it had to be restarted throughout the trip. After we got everything done and the truck was being parked the throttle decided it would be very happy if it suddenly locked wide open. My father just killed it then and there and said it was close enough to where he wanted it parked.

I have no further plans for today but if something interesting presents itself I might take a stab at it.

Tuesday was so cold the battery on the truck did not just lose cranking amps but actually froze, had to wait till it thawed out before I could do anything so Wednesday charged it for a few min and it turned over but as I was about close the hood I noticed the battery was leaking Eek, drove to auto parts store with receipt as battery was still under warranty they tested the battery passed all tested but the guy doing the test said the battery was bubbling so they gave me a new battery and installed it as a warranty replacement.

We have 3 wireless I/O thermometers. One fancy one for the house and two others we bought for the RV and trailer. All I wanted for the RV was to check if it went below freezing outside.
I have two of them hooked up but I can only locate one of the outdoor sensors -- the other one is sending info but I have no idea where I put it!

I had a call today from the Platelayers. The member who was going to host the next meeting has a wife in hospital with pneumonia, so can we accommodate them? No problem.

Good night all. Big Rock Distributor show is awesome. Everything hunting, fishing, marine and outdoors. Dazs, you would have loved the guns. Every manufacturer [some I never heard of] was there.

Hornady had a big booth. Gave away free beer with their big H mug. Not much of a beer drinker but got one for the mug. By the time I left, mugs were gone but cups of beer were flowing.

Back tomorrow around noon.

Sleep tight.

When I was at my trailer this morning I took a minute to see if the satellite TV company had fixed the problem with my service. They have. Before I went into the hospital back in August I set the programming down to basic service so I'd be paying the bare minimum to keep my service connected. When I move back there I'll go online and add one of the premium services to the basic service, say HBO, Starz or Cinemax.

Been busy today downloading some old TV series shows. U F O, American Gladiators, Junkyard wars, Voyagers as well as some Star Trek fan shows and Star Trek shows that never hit the airways like Star Trek Phase II, Star Trek Odyssey, Star Trek Phoenix, etc. There's a bunch of Star Trek series out there if you know where to look. Many can be found on Youtube.

While I was typing up my post tonight (in Notepad and saving often) my computer here kept shutting down for seemingly no reason. After the third time I opened the case to see what was up. The processors cooling fan had come loose and was no longer doing it's job of keeping the processor cool. It took only a few minutes to fix. Typing up my post off-line and saving it often resulted in only a 5% loss. A simple copy and paste and I was back in business at almost the point I had left off.

Time to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.

Good early morning all.

Had a treat for evening meal: Falter's brauts sautéed onions and peppers and some fried taters.

Warming up to 40's but with rain and possible flooding.

My end of town is getting rough, In the news an 84 year old paper delivery person got their car stolen while at a gas station papers and all, the day before there was a bomb threat at the racetrack/casino. There seems to be a rash of cars crashing into buildings lately as well. A few years ago we had a lot of wrong way drivers on the freeways.

Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VI.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 01-11-2014

Good morning all. It's 42 out at 6AM, with temps going into the low to mid 70's later on today and for the next week. Wednesday shows it pushing 80. Still, no records but I'll take it.

Just a reminder, we still have a voting poll going for our "#5" photo contest. We don't have many entries, but I think those that did enter would appreciate it if you would stop by and vote. The poll will be closing in a few days so if you haven't already voted, you can do it right here, right now....

No plans for today so I guess I'll be watching some movies and maybe downloading a few more. Maybe I'll see if I can find some of the old mystery shows from the 'Mystery Movie' period on NBC in the 1970's. Titles like 'McMillian and wife', 'McCloud', 'Lucas Tanner', 'Columbo', 'Hec Ramsey', 'Banacek', 'The Snoop Sisters', 'Quincy M.E'., 'Amy Prentiss'. Anybody remember 'Hart to Hart'?

Morning all already had breakfast and now getting ready to look at why my trains are derailing up on the shelf layout since I tightened the layout up ( had about 1/16" gap in some of the joining areas on the track. So need to craw up on the layout and see what's going on there. Not much else going on this am. Showers here today already 68 expected high is going to be 71 today but only 62 tomorrow but sunny tomorrow. Hope all have a good day talk to you all later.

Good Morning Blue
We have rain and 41 degrees.
It will be a long time before all that snow disappears though.
Since I have not been feeling well there has been no toy train activity here.
Just this laptop and the phone. Sorry about that.
