Morning all. Back from lake house. Did usual mowing. Changed Wifey's décor from summer to fall [including wreath way up high on front of screened in porch. Plumbing emergency that oldest said new bath toilet was dumping water on the floor when flushing was nothing. Fill hose had come out of hole and was spraying water under tank lid. Her hubby to be and herself should have figured that out and saved me a trip. Wallbang Off to farms today to "do away with" some squirrels. Eating holes in our deer feeders. Yes, chewing holes in the big plastic tanks to get to corn. Later

Good morning all, another hot day in store for here. Yesterday it got up to 111 in Phoenix, not a record, but close. Good news for next week though, higher chances of rain and temps in the 90's for a few days. Tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy with a chance of rain, but cool enough for us to go out target shooting. I bought one of those 10' x 10' folding canopies a while back, but we've been lucky so far and haven't had a need to try it out.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 70 degrees this morning with an anticipated high in the low 90s. Still no rain in sight. There are slight chances of rain next Tuesday and Wednesday but they are only in the 20-30% range.

Not much news from the train front. I did repair the track wiring connector and replace a power switch on the outdoor trains.

Last night we traveled over to the next town with our daughter and son-in-law for tacos, only to find that the place is closing. Very disappointing.

Not much on tap for today other than a trip to the gym.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good Morning Blue
We started the day at 48 sunny degrees. 70s this afternoon.
Thursday was a long one. A boat trip on the Detroit river. Their last cruise for this season.
An hour along the U.S. side and then back on the Canadian side.
That means we were in a foreign country for about an hour. Big Grin
Since the boat dock is near downtown Detroit we headed for the one of the casinos.(there are 3).
A long day and I slept good.

Been a little busy work on the Burlington F3. I have the drive out of it and will likely start on disassembling it later today. For now the Burlington shell is on an Athearn blue box power chassis. I wanted some weight in it but the Athearn superweight sits a bit too high so it makes the shell ride high and it's a bit heavier than I wanted. So I spent a couple of hours slowly cutting and grinding it down to size. The top middle portion has been removed and the rest of the top has been ground down about an eighth of an inch. Now the shell looks right at home on the weighted chassis.

According to USPS tracking my Dremel chuck should arrive today. I've been using the old one this morning. It only jammed up twice. But then I only changed bits twice too. Getting the bit out requires that I remove the chuck and insert a small screwdriver in the rear of it and push the bit out. Then I have to use the screwdriver to force the chucks teeth open. After twelve plus years it's just worn out. No other plans for today.

I did something this morning I'm rather proud of. I changed out two light bulbs in an overhead fixture on my own. There's an exercise machine close by. So I balanced on my one foot and hung onto the exercise machine with my left hand while I reached up and changed the light bulbs out with my right hand. That's an accomplishment in itself.

Great job Jeffrey.

Sleep tight.

Disassembled the Varney F3 drive today for an inspection and I liked most of what I saw. There's very little wear on the gears (all plastic). The front (shaft driven) truck was clean. I found a couple of small metal filings in the rear (power) truck and fished them out with tweezers. I can't find any part of the loco they could have come from so I suspect they could have gotten in through the lube hole in the bottom of the truck. The motor is a bit dirty therefore stiff. It can wait until I have access to my cleaning supplies, whenever that is. Probably a couple of months. My father is happy that I'm 'playing' with cheap trains again instead of expensive computers. Little does he know that I'm simply alternating hobbies. Boy will he be surprised! The F3 I polished the other day is already tarnishing so I guess Zamac tarnishes pretty quickly. Got my new Dremel chuck today. For those who are curious it's the type that you tighten with your fingers, just like the old one.

Well that's all for today. See y'all tomorrow.

Good very early morning all.

Played with some trains while testing the ol'e 3D printer, printed another plain body of a box car to see if the first print was a fluke, the second print did fine but ran the spool of plastic almost down to the last bit. Now to transfer the latest and squared up file to the sd card so I can see what the details are like, if they look half way decent may print some up and then try shapeways to see if they have a better resolution detail wise.

RB,

You mentioned Wolfenstein 3D, I have it and the commercial sequal return to castle wolfenstein, return has a lot better graphics and if you are afraid of heights one portion of the game can be kinda disturbing. Never played Doom but had a copy of quake.

Cleaned up work shop a little bit friday evening found a box of misc. computer stuff from apple iie books to PC kVM switch and cables and a switch and router old wired type not wireless.

Good night/early morning all.

I have Wolfenstien3D and Wolfenstien3D Spear of Destiny. Saw Return to Castle Wolfenstien when it came out but couldn't use it due to it being for a higher operating system than I was running at the time. I wouldn't mind having it now.

Good morning all, I hope everyone is having an enjoyable weekend. One the weather front, the TV weather charts showed a heavy storm heading our way.... oh joy!! Then around 7 last night the wind blew and there was thunder and lightning all around us. Surly we'd have some rain out of all this. Sadly, not a drop fell on our area as if there were some sort of anti-rain bubble hanging over us. Curse Maybe today since once again there's some 30% chance of rain in the forecast... Icon_lol

Heading out to the desert to do some target shooting today. The ammo shortage is loosening up a bit. I guess all those hoarders and resellers have all they need. Cabela's has quite a bit on the shelf, but a one box limit on .22 and .223's. I was even able to buy some at Walmart last Saturday. Thumbsup

Greetings, gang.

It's a partly cloudy 72 degrees here in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. High for today is supposed to be in the low 90s. We had some thunder and about 63 drops of rain this morning.

Yesterday i started weathering the caboose. So far I has a coat of diluted white over the Santa Fe building brown. Not sure yet what else I'm going to do with it. The only things on today's agenda so far are a bike ride and college football at 5:00. My wife has an event at her historic home so I'll be left up to my own devices.

RB - congrats on Operation Light Bulb. Really glad so see you continually making progress. The small victories keep you going.

All stay safe.

Tom

Nothing special going on today. I have my eye on a few Ebay auctions. Nothing planned for today but I'm sure something will turn up.
