gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - franckcombe - 07-07-2013 In parallel of the Woolacombe bay (at 1/13 scale), I'm doing with 2 friends of my club a gn15 layout. I convert 2 members of my club to gn15 (Gn15 is 15" gauge rail at 1/24 scale on 16.5 mm rail). This is the true site in narrow gauge located in the south of France. The name is "Moules de chez Sébastien " or sebastien's mussels for the MOMING 2013 challenge in sedan (France). We share the job : Erwan and Jean-paul build the layout and me I work on the rolling stocks and the weathering. Erwan find the idea of mussel business in the French Mediterranean sea in the "pond of Thau", in reality it's a big salt lake. This is our interpretation. We have made some progress. We need to install now the backdrop and made the sea with resin. Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - Kev1340 - 07-07-2013 Looks like you are making great progress I hope you will share more photos, especially of the loco and rolling stock builds. Cheers, Kev Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - Tyson Rayles - 07-07-2013 I'm not getting any pics, just white boxes with red X's. Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - faraway - 07-08-2013 Your exceptional talent and the large scale result in another great tiny layout Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - Tyson Rayles - 07-08-2013 I'm getting the pics this morning and they look great. The headless ghost looks kinda weird though . Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - franckcombe - 07-08-2013 Tyson Rayles Wrote:I'm getting the pics this morning and they look great. Never pronounced the name of the headless ghost of the "etang de thau" or you will be cursed for 7 generations Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - Brakie - 07-08-2013 Oh my! Its the ghost of the headless operator looking for his head! Ok enough silliness. Great modeling.. Any more pictures? Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - franckcombe - 07-10-2013 The layout measures 80 cm by 30 cm (it's a micro layout). The overall view The rolling stocks from peper 7 fit with kadee couplers (efficient but not design and not very elegant to this kind of wagons) The crane from erwan The logo designs by Erwan Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - Kev1340 - 07-10-2013 Really good work Franck, I especially like the gantry crane Cheers, Kev Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - sailormatlac - 07-10-2013 Those small operating dioaramas are impressive! MAtt Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - BR60103 - 07-10-2013 Frank: you can make a form of Link and Pin coupling from the Kadees bypulling out the trip pin, releasing and removing the knuckle, losing the spring . Then you can bend up a link from wire and use a couple of small nails for pins. Doesn't look quite as good as a proprietary L&P, but it has all the operational inconveniences. If you have a system please may you post some photos. Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - franckcombe - 07-14-2013 Erwan has installed yesturday the backdrop. Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - faraway - 07-14-2013 Outstanding! Is it a photo or is Erwan an painting artist? Re: gn 15 layout : sebastien's mussels - franckcombe - 07-14-2013 It's a photo of the true site. We usually used photos as backdrop, the effect is always superb if you choose it carrefully. For the painting, you need to be a true artist to succeed it. |
