Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Ralph - 09-15-2013

Thanks! I plan to put the car in the mail tomorrow.

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Puddlejumper - 09-15-2013

Love the way you backdated Ralph! Even the photos are old style. That is awesome!

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Lester Perry - 09-16-2013

In case there is someone who hasn't been to the other forum. They are collecting names and type of industries on your layout to make it easier to know what to ship.

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Mike Kieran - 09-17-2013

Whist Manufacturing Corp. receives box cars, flat cars, tank cars, gondolas, and covered hoppers of material. It ships out finished products in box cars.

Regina Distributors Inc. receives food products in box cars and refrigerator cars.

RU Ready Mix Co. receives covered hoppers of cement, sand, & GERN flux as well as hoppers of gravel.

City Salvage Company Co. ships out gondolas of scrap materials and box cars full of recycled paper.

Jerseymercantile on the other forum has sent me that info, and I'll be putting it on the blog later today.

Funny how so many good forum guys everywhere are from New Jersey!

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - jwb - 09-17-2013

The list is up at http://modelrailroadcarexchange.blogspo ... tires.html I appreciate Jack/Jerseymercantile putting the first version of this together. Since Mike Kieran has done yeoman work on getting the schedule set up, I''ll take over the job of coordinating the list of layouts and industries. Not everyone has sent in a list of their layouts' industries (and it isn't a requirement, but it's fun!) -- if you want to supply the info for your layout, PM me with it. I think a central person (me for now) should coordinate this list on the blog to be sure it has a uniform format. This list will be a work in progress. If anyone wants to update info that's already up there, PM me, and I'll make any changes you need.

I'm really impressed with the enthusiasm guys are showing over this project!

New Jersey rules!
I am an import from Brooklyn running the Jersey Mercantile RR.
This is a short connecting railroad serving central NJ with the yards at Lakewood NJ and the main customers in Newark NJ.
The Jersey Mercantile is a fellow member of the Rail Rat operating group, with over 20 layouts in the area.
I am happy to be participating in this car exchange.
Jack

Are we going for round 2? I looked at the blog, but call me dumb if you want, I can't figure out who I ship to in October. Is it Teejay?

Dave

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - jwb - 10-04-2013

You send a car to Chet. Teejay is temporarily off the list, as he had some sort of delay and couldn't send to Chet in September. I'm sending a car to Chet as well to make up that difference. You receive a car from Lester Perry. Again, we'll welcome new participants!

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Lester Perry - 10-06-2013

I felt I should put this here so all could see it. I am not sure that the idea of forwarding a car is such a great Idea unless requested by the owner and approved by the receiving RR. Mike has a shipper owned car from my C&O. He actually can't send something in it to next layout as he has emptied its contents. I am speaking of a GERN covered hopper. It is supposed to be returned to GERN when emptied as specified on the waybill.

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Ralph - 10-06-2013

Right, so far I'm aware of one member who would like to have his car forwarded to the entire circuit of exchange participants, which is fine...but I believe most of us intend to send to the person we're scheduled to send to and then receive the car back from them.

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Puddlejumper - 10-15-2013

Hey guys,
I am going to fulfill whatever trades I have going on this month, but I wish to drop out afterward until further notice. I haven't been feeling myself recently. With the government shut down I have found myself forced to report for duty without pay as I am an essential employee. This may be the case until Congress stops bickering and puts the gov't back into business. Hopefully I will rejoin once things return to normal... if they ever do.

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Ralph - 10-15-2013

Sorry to hear that Dave. Hopefully this ridiculous situation will get righted sooner than later. I'm glad we had a chance to do the car exchange. It was fun. Best wishes.
Ralph

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - Lester Perry - 10-16-2013

I guess it is good that I am having trouble getting the cars off to you.

Re: Interest In Tour Car or Car Exchange? - jwb - 11-04-2013

I haven't heard from Mike Kieran for a while, but I've had some requests for the November exchange schedule. If Puddlejumper is staying out, this is what I THINK would be the next exchange -- Mike, feel free to straighten me out, and anyone else, please give input!

Chet sends to Lester Perry
Lester Perry sends to jerseymercantile
Jerseymercantile sends to Ralph
Ralph sends to jwb
Jwb sends to Ralph
Mike Kieran sends to Chet

Mike should have a car from me, actually one that jerseymercantile forwarded in the October exchange, then on to Mike. Chet also has some log cars coming to jwb as part of the October exchange. Any other outstanding items?
