Re: Westbrook - alcanman - 03-26-2014

Thanks Chris.

I have to confess, that , in addition to wanting to build a New England layout , my decision to model Pan Am / Guilford was influenced in no small way by your excellent 'North Haston' layout.

I had actually started building the layout and did not have any suitable power, but a stroke of good luck landed me with a couple of second-hand GRS sound fitted locos. Big Grin

It might be small, Mal, but I can appreciate that a lot of work has gone into producing this beautifully balanced composition.

A certain favourite on 'the circuit' Thumbsup

That's great news Chris, and thanks for the invitation. November 2015 is a long time away, I'll let you know. In any event I'm already looking forward to seeing North Haston 'in the flesh' Big Grin

The pics are great, inspirational stuff. Thumbsup

BTW what did you use for the small bushes at the front of the layout?

Mal

ps. I like your signature motto too. Describes my sentiments entirely!

Re: Westbrook - Ralph - 03-27-2014

VERY nice! I especially like your grass, weeds, trees, and bushes. Very realistic scenes. Thumbsup

Re: Westbrook - alcanman - 04-10-2014

Progress has been slow lately, however I've now started working on the right hand end of the layout.

To the right of the yard office is some rough ground which is used as a parking lot.

Farther along we see a new structure, Westbrook Hardware Store which also has a small parking lot.

In the background I've started working on some greenery. This area will eventually be filled with sea foam Super Trees. The first one has already been planted.

In the distance can be seen the non-rail served warehouse.

Re: Westbrook - switcher1 - 04-11-2014

Are you going to put some tyre/tire tracks on the wasteland parking lot?
(I think it would enhance it.)

Re: Westbrook - jonte - 04-11-2014

So difficult to believe this layout is as narrow as it is, Mal. Great sense of depth.

I'm certainly no expert, but IMHO you've another 'hit' here.

I've still got more work to do on wasteland/parking lot area. What I've shown is the first 'pass', I'll be adding more weeds, tire marks, autos, etc later.

Re: Westbrook - alcanman - 04-19-2014

I've now added more weeds to the parking lot area and I'll probably add shorter 2mm static grass to finish off this area.

I've also tries out a couple of sea moss Super Trees using Noch leaves instead of WS turf and I'm pleased with the results. I think they are more realistic.

Happy Easter to you all.
