Thanks for the kind words.
This phase of detailing creates a very comfortable feeling.
There is always enough to be done to work on the layout any time I want to, on the other side are all main items done and there is no reason to do anything urgently.

Very nice, you are very good at urban modeling! Thumbsup

The work you're doing on the paved areas is great! You've mastered the transition from paved/asphalt to dirt well - I need to master that!

I love that new toy Reinhard, did you get a sound equipped version?

I got the DC version only and bought the DCC controller local. The PCB asks for a 21 pin controller and I ended up with an ESU one as recommended by Rapido. There is a matching ESU Sound available. That is an option for the future and I need to know where Rapido hides the speaker on their models.

ps. The model of the GMD-1 is to my surprise not a (small) switcher but a full blown road switcher. It as long and high as a GP15 or GP9 and very heavy. It runs very smooth and is fine detailed. A great model. I found some photos of a GMD-1 in Illinois for excuse....
This is a great text about all the different versions of the GMD-1 http://www.rapidotrains.com/gmd1class.html

Love that fence - really well done

Re: Freelance 2014-2 - torikoos - 09-02-2014

Yes I know Rapido is very keen on good quality and accurate details. I believe they worked together with ESU to record this loco to get the sounds as accurate as possible. :-)

I love the look of them. :-)

If you are interested in the DC version to do your own DCC or sound decoders you should read this paper <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rapidotrains.com/manuals/GMD-1_English_Web.pdf">http://www.rapidotrains.com/manuals/GMD ... sh_Web.pdf</a><!-- m --> . You will need a 21 pin decoder to drop in and the speaker is not available at the market. Rapido will offer a sound decoder/speaker combo some time later as described in this paper <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rapidotrains.com/decoders.html">http://www.rapidotrains.com/decoders.html</a><!-- m --> .
Anyhow, there is plenty of space in the engine and you can easy make your own PCB to connect the decoder of choice. A perfect matching speaker might be a problem due to the unusual shape. Refer to position 134 of this drawing <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.rapidotrains.com/manuals/GMD1%201900%20Explode.pdf">http://www.rapidotrains.com/manuals/GMD ... xplode.pdf</a><!-- m -->

I have to agree, please post that link on it's own thread, It is great to read instructions from a company with a sense of humor.

Some of those GMD-1s ran on our local shortline for a while. I never got any pictures. Nope
