Need help with a RIX throttle - tsby_fan - 04-04-2014

Hi, all-

Through the generosity of a board member, I was given a Rix throttle to use on my shelf layout. I have a few questions about it that he couldn't answer: Can these throttles be unplugged when the train is running and the throttle moved to another location/plugin without the train stopping? Is this a true memory throttle? If it is not, can I modify it in some way to make it a memory throttle? I really want to use this throttle, as I am not ready to use/try/buy/afford a DCC system at this time. Thanks for any input you can give me on this system.

I don't know much about them, but I would suggest you can answer your first question simply by trying it.

This document http://www.nasg.org/documents/Throttle.pdf mentions Rix, and gives detailed info on a "similar" throttle, so it may be of some use.

Have you tried looking for references in the MR Index. Some of the older back issues might have featured it at some point in time.

I'd like to try it out, but at the moment all of my rr stuff is in storage three hours away. Doing a lot of armchair modeling at the moment

I have looked for info in the back issues of a lot of magazines, including MR, no luck.

What if you run the test just with a volt meter attached instead of track & engine?

Oh, I thought maybe you had the throttle at home. Not sure I can think of anything else then. What about the NMRA? They keep lots and lots of stuff on file.
