Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Running Bear - 07-22-2014 So far today I've been poked and prodded by several doctors and specialists then I was rescued by the physical therapy people who took me for a long walk to the end of the hall, turned around and walked to the other end of the hall then back to the room where I was weighed (221) and put back into bed. It didn't take long for the scrubs and lab coats to begin circling again. Lunch was somewhat identifiable. What looked like Monterey Chicken with noodles and green beans a wheat roll. The Monterey Chicken was OK but the noodles were somewhat stringy and the green beans were like rubber and a pear. Anybody wanna play baseball? The wheat roll would make a perfect ball. The pear was the only perfect part of the meal and I really enjoyed it. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Maybe it's true.....good things come in pears :o Heal fast, Heal well, You have a lot of friends out here, keeping you in their thoughts. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Been there done that lol Yup, I know well what you're saying. Still, with a limited menu, they still put out decent food for everyone. We've even gone there just to eat in their cafeteria. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Running Bear - 07-22-2014 ezdays Wrote:Sounds really exciting. I hate to tell you this, but our local hospital has really good food. You have a menu to order from, and about 30 minutes after you call in your order, it's brought to your room. I know, It's "hospital food", but it's decent hospital food. I guess they figure, a well fed patient is a happy patient and one that won't complain so much about how they treat you otherwise:I wish the hospital cafeterias food was a dependable yardstick to judge by. The food in the hospital cafeteria in Leesville is quite good. The stuff the patients get can start food riots. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 07-22-2014 Running Bear Wrote:It wasn't always this way. Years ago, at this same hospital, you had to order your meal by a certain time and everyone was served when the trays all arrived. If you didn't get your order in on time, you had to wait for the next time to order. About the only thing on the tray that had a chance of being decent was the Jello. Someone with compassion was put in charge, and now you can order your meal anytime, an it's individually delivered by someone neatly dressed and wearing a hat and apron, and the worse thing on the plate is the Jello, (which is still good). Either they hired a real chef in the kitchen, or a great PR director, either way, it adds a bright spot to what is not otherwise a fun time.ezdays Wrote:Sounds really exciting. If not you get whatever they give you. * Dinner was fair enough. Not bad for a diabetic meal. Tossed garden salad (tomato removed) with light dressing, beef pot roast, mashed potatoes w/gravy, carrots, wheat roll, grapes, iced tea, strawberry flavor Boost. The only thing I had an objection to was the carrots. They were somewhere between blanched an half cooked. The rest was pretty good and I really enjoyed it. Not much going on here. Just surfing the web and watching TV. Not much else to do except chase nurses. They can outrun me by just walking away. LOL! I couldn't win a foot race with a fish. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - BR60103 - 07-22-2014 I just want to post a thank you to EZDays for resetting my password after I fouled things up on this danged iPad. RB. Just pretend the meals are the latest food craze...sounds like al dente carrots to me. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Running Bear - 07-22-2014 Time for me to call it a night. I should be back in the morning provided they don't have to take me downstairs for any tests. Have a good night. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 07-23-2014 Early coffee ready. Foggy out. Driving down east to the farms. Get well RB. Later Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Running Bear - 07-23-2014 Good morning. It's 72° with 97% humidity. Looks like the weather here in Alexandria is gonna be a bit loud and wet. It'll be mostly cloudy with a 50% chance of showers and thunderstorms. Looks like more of the same today. They have Hi-def cable here but not a single movie channel on which to enjoy it. Most of the channels are news, sports, politics and shopping. Squeezed in here and there are regular channels that occasionally have something entertaining to watch. Being able to surf the forums is about all that's keeping me sane. Well that's all for now. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 07-23-2014 Good morning everyone. Here we are just past 8:00 in the morning and we're already at 88. We did get up to 114 yesterday and should see more of it today and the next few days. There is a heat warning in affect where some areas could see as high as 117. Today's record for both Phoenix and Surprise is 114, so we should at least match, if not break this record. I am staying inside as much as I can which gives me time to work on my structure challenge. Yes, I haven't forgotten about it, however, progress is slow. Just as a reminder, there's still plenty of time to get a project done, so we are welcoming anyone who still thinks they can get a project done by the beginning of September. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - sir james - 07-23-2014 Good Morning Blue We have gloomy skies and 67 degrees. 93 yesterday gave the A/C a good workout. In spite of the daytime heat yesterday evening was nice so we spent some time on the porch. Love summer. No train news. S.J. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Running Bear - 07-23-2014 Well the meals today were alright. Instead of the tiny scoop of scrambled eggs this morning I had an omelet. That was worth four of those tiny scoops. Add to that toast and cheese and it was a good breakfast. Lunch was roast chicken and salad. Not bad at all. Dinner was a cold buffet with ham, turkey, roast beef and a large salad and two slices of bread. That had sandwich written all over it. The bread, meat and some of the lettuce and salad dressing made a great sandwich. Found out a little while ago that they can't transfer me to the Leesville Rehab Hospital. My insurance company says I'm doing too well. They do say however that I can get rehab at home. Oh joy! Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Running Bear - 07-23-2014 Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 07-23-2014 Hot and humid day in the woods. Then got rained on. Sun came out and made it worse. Tired. Sleep tight. |
