Sunny and cold. Well, 40 now but going into the 50's. About time fall is here. Now deer will move. None of this hunting in long sleeve shirts. Have a good one.

Started the morning at the lab for medical tests (assorted fluids) and followed coffee with a chest X-ray. The PSA test is, apparently, at extra cost but not optional.
I've started doing a bit of work on the layout -- this week is grassing in a corner. Dayle realized after it was all over that I'd carried a table full of Scenics with the arm they took the blood from.
Played Tony Hancock's show The Blood Donor. Tony gets up to leave after the doctor has pricked his finger for the blood type and is informed that the normal donation is a pint. "A PINT! That's nearly a whole armful."

Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 28 headed for 41. Only about 2 inches remaining on the ground from Friday night's 8 inches. The rest of the snow should disappear in the next day or two.

Not much done yesterday. Got a call from my son. He said his beard is starting to fall out from the chemo. Today I need to get the tires repaired on the snow blower. Also have an eye appt. in Story City. Of course it's the same day my new laptop is being delivered. I have called a friend who cam see my house from where she works to keep an eye out for the package when it arrives. I did buy a new mouse for my desktop computer yesterday. I liked it so well I went back and bought another one for the new laptop. I hate using the touchpad.

All stay safe.

Tom

Good morning. Sunny and 27 here in Ohio land. We got some flurries last night but nothing stayed.
Prayers for your son Tom.
I too hate the touch pad, and I detest all the windows versions after XP. It isn't that they don't work any better, but things that did work very well on XP were changed. I liked the camera and scanner wizard with XP. I liked being able to rename easily all of the pictures as they were downloaded from the camera. That was lost. I have downloaded everything I can to make 8 look like XP and I do have it close, but the differences are still just stupid things that should not have been changed.

Charlie

Morning all been a few days again. Not a real lot been going on but been keeping busy going here and there. Went to the V.A. for dental yesterday looks like I will be returning after the holidays for more work oh well.
took a 2025 apart and re-lubed last night so Need to test 2025 today then who knows lol. No real plans wife does want me to help her do some high cleaning today but that will only take a few. ( 2 ceiling fans ) Have some fastrack straights coming in today for the tree layout. ( yeah I the non-fastrack person ordered some fastrack ( already got the curve in ) for around the tree to me that's about all its good for I know some of you really like it and that's great I've always said use what you like.

I have a silver set of 2023 and the silver 2421, 2422, & 2423 passenger set not best looking set but will look great under the tree definitely need help as they have seen better days but knew it when I got them but liked them for that anyway. Have to dig out some of my buildings also ( ceramic type some dept 56 and some Wal-mart and other places sell) to make my Christmas layout this year will be first in a long, long time. Looking forward to it.

Well guess I need to get moving it's presently 46 going up to a high of 56 but Friday and Saturday there calling for 69 that's close enough to 70 for me Big Grin

Good morning all, big day yesterday for us, we finally closed on our new house and picked up the keys. Our schedule is to move on Monday. If we couldn't do that, we would have had to move anyway and find ourselves looking for temporary living quarters until we had a house to move into. The new house (well, new to us), is about five minutes away from Packey, which is good since we've been needing his help more these days. My wife is doing well, but will never fully recover. She gets around somewhat normally most days but then there are those other days that you wish would go away quickly.

We will have a small turkey for Thanksgiving and probably spend most of the day moving stuff and cleaning the new house. It won't need much, lots of new paint, cabinets and flooring, but it's good to go over it before the movers get there.

That's great news Don. I hope the move goes off without a hitch. Prayers for you and the family for a nice Thanksgiving and may all the days to follow be good.

Charlie

Greetings, gang.

It's a mostly cloudy 46 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning and that's as warm as it's going to be today. Fog and drizzle later with rain overnight and more rain tomorrow.

The new laptop arrived as scheduled and is up and running. There will be several days of tweaking but so far the only problem I've discovered is that it may take a couple minutes to wake up from sleep mode.

On tap for today is to put new inner tubes in the tires on the snow blower.

All stay safe.

Tom

Tom, there are some settings there to keep Win10 from calling home. They are hidden deep in the system. Eek

Here are a couple links.

I downloaded classic shell and adjusted the system to look more like the older versions, and I don't need apps so I deleted most of them. It increased the speed somewhat.

Good Luck

Hi Charlie. I'm looking at upgrading to Win 10 soon and your wrinkles are going to be useful. Thank you. I've printed the pages so I can refer to them when I do. Have a good one.

Good Morning Blue
Sun and 50 today.
The snow is melting, I can see green grass again.
Why do women mumble at us then act surprised when you say "what".

Catweasel, be sure you back up everything and have disks so you can go back if you don't like 10. They claim you can go back, but I had to revert to reformating and reinstalling 8.1. I did not like 10 at all.

Been gone for a couple of days, due to a monitor failure on my desktop. Couldn't log in with my laptop ??????, but suspect that I was logged in through the desktop, and that may have caused the laptop login problem.
Ran out to the local Goodwill and purchased an HP LP1965 for $6.42...installed and back in business again. This one has no speakers, so no sound.
I'll log out, and see if the laptop can connect tomorrow. Got a ton of things to do tonight.
Hey, it's a new "learning curve", and, so far, a very interesting one. Cheers Wink Big Grin
