Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - BATMAN - 09-30-2016 AF350 Wrote:Good afternoon all. Good morning from the sunny West Coast. AF350, I am glad you enjoyed your tour, on the Algoma Central. Kenora Ontario is the farthest East I have been in Canada. I have been to most U.S. States and to San Juan. Hawaii is a spot I get to often as when I hit the winter wall, it is a quick hop from Vancouver for a Sun charge. I got the trailer put away for the winter yesterday, all drained and cleaned. If you told me twenty years ago I would be an RV-er I would have laughed. The fun times we had with the kids were the best, but alas they are getting older and want to work and do other things in the summer. We may sell it, if we don't use it much, we will see. I may get myself a sports car again, I really like the BMW Roadster, however, it would be a used one as they don't make them anymore. I hear BMW is coming out with a replacement. We will see if it appeals to me. Train show tomorrow.....YIPPEE!!!!!! Brent Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - sir james - 09-30-2016 RAIN Rain Rain and more coming. Where was it all summer? On a real good traffic day I could be IN Windsor Ont. in about 45 minutes or less. Don't have a passport so we don't go over there anymore. No train news, we spent the first half of this week meandering lower Michigan and just happened to stumble on a couple of casinos. I won Granny lost more than I won but it's our entertainment. S.J. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - BR60103 - 09-30-2016 Despite the forecast, we had a 2-hour drive (and 2-hour return) to buy a Flower Fairy to replace one that was destroyed. These are now hard to get, but she found a store that had the one she needed. Weather stayed nice all day (well, jacket temperature, especially by the lake) and interesting clouds on the return trip. For me, we're going to the railway show tomorrow (Brampton). Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - rtraincollector - 09-30-2016 Morning all. Been home since the 26th ( about 6 P.M. ) Probably doing more than I should but needed to make room in my room. See I need to change the switch in my room as the light just went out. Hmm maybe the light but there's more than one bulb up there. Hope it's not something else in the wiring. Last thing I need right now. And I can't get up there and check to see if maybe a loose wire as not to lift above my head and it will mean basically taking whole fan apart to see. ( the way this was built) Well not much else going on here today. Talk to you all later Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 10-01-2016 rtraincollector, Glad to see you've been home for a few days. I think the worse thing about being in the hospital is getting out. That last few hours waiting for the doctor to sign you out and for the nurse to get all that paperwork together and to make sure all of those needles are out of you can be frustrating. But you're home now, so take it easy and take time to get to 100% before you start climbing ladders and working on things. Here we are, the first day of October, yesterday was the last day of our "monsoon" season. I put it in quotes because I really don't like that term. We used to have dust storms with heavy winds and flooding in mid to late summer, then they decided we'd have to call those storms, Haboobs", and it wasn't really summer, anymore, we now had "monsoon season". I'll be glad to just call them storms again, at least until the beginning of the "monsoon" season next year. Have a good weekend everyone, us, we're spending time in the garage getting ready for a community yard sale in two weeks.. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 10-01-2016 Sunny and pretty out. A change. Had lots of rain. Mayor's duties starting at 1. Hope all are OK. Seems RT is back into the trains. That is good. Have a good one. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - TrainNut - 10-01-2016 MountainMan Wrote:...I am finally getting free to start building my layout in the spare room!Granted I've been away from MRR awhile (had to move and start life over again clear across the country) but last I heard, you were cleaning out a travel trailer or something like that and you were going to build your layout inside of that. What happened to that idea? Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - JaBear - 10-02-2016 Gidday campers, a wet 55F day in the island paradise, however we haven’t needed a fire for the last 10 days though even if the weather allowed I won’t be cleaning the chimney for a while just in case winter hasn’t had its last blast. Thanks for the welcome Tom, I’ve had to put on my specs and squint a fair bit, but is that a 124 Spider in your avatar? Batman, I have sent you a PM (I hope!!!) Cheers, the Bear. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - rtraincollector - 10-02-2016 Hey EZ how do you think I felt Friday afternoon after being told Friday morning your going home today, to be told well we just can't get everything in line it's going to be Monday. ( This is after being in there 2 1/2 weeks and not being able to see wife as she was 50 miles away and can't drive. ) I'm very grateful for all they have done for me. I'm of coarse tickled to be home also. Train front well I finally found my room again from all the stuff that came in while I was not here. took me about 3 days with doing so at my speed as I was limited to what I could/can do. Not a lot going on here, just taking it easy. Hope all are doing well Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 10-02-2016 Greetings, gang. Some light fog which is quickly burning off followed by sunshine and warmer temperatures today. Right now it's 46 headed for a high in the low 70s today and tomorrow.. I finally got my wife's computer to update. Took some doing but I eventually found the solution. Once I got it started there were over 80 updates to be installed. I just restarted after those updates and now there are 26 more. Yeah, it's been a while since that computer has been used. Yesterday I drove up to Estherville for a train show. Nice drive and a nice but small train show. I did find a couple of items I couldn't live without. On the way home I found some larger rocks by the side of the road so I stopped and loaded a half dozen in the trunk. I'm sure some passers by thought I was nuts but the price was right. I saw an article awhile back where in Minnesota they have an annual rock harvest and sell the rocks to local landscaping companies. After the game yesterday (we won) I went to Menards and picked up even more rocks for the Backyard & Southern. Today's chores may include putting those rocks in appropriate places. Today I need to avoid the news sites until this evening when there will be a replay of the F1 race. I recorded it but prefer to watch in HD. I can't record in HD so I wait for the replay. If I miss the replay I can always watch the recorded (but lower video quality) version. JaBear - yep, it's a 1971 124 that I had for 22 years. Lots of fond memories. I'll dig around in the archives and see if I can find a larger image. All stay safe. Tom Edit: found it. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 10-02-2016 Morning all. Beautiful day. Resting. Have a great week ahead. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - sir james - 10-02-2016 Hello Blue Rain and more rain. Been like this since Wednesday. I thought we were past it but nope it rained for 2 hours yesterday evening. Train news one friend is working on his new layout as the weather has changed here to about 70 for a high. The other friend, yes I have 2, is working on his military models. Since none of you have ever commented on our club videos I assume you have never seen any of his military trains. Yesterday was a football day. 2 wins and 1 OT loss. S.J. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - BATMAN - 10-02-2016 Good morning all! An overcast dry day today on the West Coast, just North of the forty-ninth. Tom that car looks like it would be an awful lot of fun on a sunny day. My friend bought an Austin Healey back in 1976, just out of high school. I think it had a straight six in it. Man, that thing could move. I am starting to get sports car envy again. Went down to Lynden Washington to their great train show yesterday. I must be living right as there was no wait at the border coming or going. On the way down the border guard ask me where I was going, I said I was going to the Lynden Train show, he said, "you and everyone else, have fun". On the way back the border guard asked what was coming back I said, "a herd of cows", holding up my ziplock full of cows. He laughed and said,"have a good day". The train show was enjoyable. I have been on the hunt for cows for my layout for years. There is no way I am going to pay $20.00 for five plastic cows, so under the table's I would look for cheap beef. Well, yesterday I got a bag of 95 cows/cattle for $20.00. They are good quality ones with great paint, more than I need. So all those years of scrounging around under the table's finally paid off. I also got a Walthers conveyor system for $5.00 and a bunch of Campbell valley ladders and stairs and other stuff all for a Dollar. The next big show is in two weeks and then a biggie in Vancouver a couple of weeks after that. I wish they could be spread it out over the year. It is feast or famine on the train show front. Busy day today as my wife is doing a (dog) grooming clinic here for 16 people and then it is six family members for prime rib tonight. That's for the prime rib, not the family members. Bear, I finally managed to get your PM open and sent you one back. There is a bit bigger learning curve on this forum compared to the MRR one. Next is getting some photo's going. Our Mac is on its last legs after six years, so the wife is looking at the new ones. Yikes! $$$$$ :o A good Sunday to all (or Monday) to those of you three hours to the West of me. Brent Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 10-03-2016 Morning all. Sunny and cooler. About time. Chores and then County Commissioners followed by Town Board. Tom, good looking car. Must not take it out in the "salty" winter. Have a good one. Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 10-04-2016 Morning. Going east to the farm. |
