Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 12-31-2016

Greetings, gang.

It's cloudy and 28 outside my window this morning and it's not going to get much warmer. High for today is only supposed to be about 31. Tomorrow's high is predicted to be in the upper 30s and then rain moves in for tomorrow night and Monday.

Following Frank's professional advice I have been taking frequent breaks along with accomplishing a few things. I have made it to the gym three days this week. That's more than I've been there in the last three months. Yesterday also saw more of the holiday decorations being taken down while watching my Huskers go down in flames. Right now the living room is somewhat of an obstacle course. Today will see that clutter reduced significantly.

Also on tap for today is a trip to a few stores for needed supplies. I want to get that done early as my new Xbox is due to be delivered today and I want the living room cleaned up before it arrives.

All stay safe and have a Happy New Year.

Tom

Morning. Chilly 42 degrees and windy. ITS COLD. Came home from hunting due to temps and WIND. Animals don't move much with the wind blowing hard. Can't hear or smell danger. Deer season ends Monday [forecasted rain all day]. Season over for me. Enjoyed it.

Hope all have a safe and happy 2017.

Later.

Good morning, and happy last day of 2016. Some people are happier than others about that, I'm not sure. We've had good things and not so good things happen to us this past year, but we're still here and able to get around on our own, so maybe it wasn't such a bad year after all.

It's been raining all night but has stopped for now. Another storm is due from the coast later today. It may be wet, but no rain for the Fiesta Bowl Parade this morning, but it'll be raining during the game tonight. Fortunately, the stadium has a roof and it'll be closed tonight for sure.

Have a safe and sane New Year Eve celebration. We'll probably go to dinner and a movie and be asleep long before the noise starts.

So for now, see you next year...

Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - BATMAN - 12-31-2016

Good morning all, It is right around the freezing mark and trying hard to snow.
It has been another busy week, I don't know how I ever had time to work before I retired. I had to take #1 son in to Vancouver to B.C. Children's Hospital to get ear tubes put in his ears. He has always had issue's with them not draining and getting infected. We checked in at 1100HRS and were in the car heading home by 1300HRS. He was so gorked on the way home from being knocked out for half an hour, I was laughing all the way home. The funny thing is, he doesn't realize he is behaving abnormally. Crazy The specialist said at the end of November he needed new tubes and booked him for the following week. My son didn't want to miss any school and asked if they could do it over Christmas break so they booked him in on December 28th. They are so accommodating, it makes life flow so much easier. I always tell people that the Government will probably be taking a contract out on the family as we are costing them a fortune for healthcare this year. 357

When he was doing his last TV shoot, one scene they were filming involved a camera on a large boom sweeping in from the heavens towards him and at the last moment two people would pull him out of the way before he got hit with it. He realized at that point his hearing was not up to snuff and thought he should do something about it as safety was coming into play.

We are having a few friends drop by tonight for potluck dinner and we will probably watch a movie or two, or sit and play our guitars and sing. Sometimes we all have a hard time making it to midnight and the party is over before then, it sucks getting old. We will see what happens tonight.

Wishing all, the best for the new year. It may be that I am just getting older, but I am feeling a little more apprehensive than usual about 2017. Cheers

Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 01-01-2017

Good morning and a very
HAPPY NEW YEAR
to you all.

Our New Year's Eve was a quiet one until midnight when a few choice folks in our neighborhood decided that the city's restriction on setting off fireworks in the city didn't apply to them and woke up a lot of others just for their few minutes of fun. I don't know when it became a tradition to set off fireworks on New Year's Eve, but I suspect some sort of marketing ploy by the fireworks industry. I suspect, just like when they got the Arizona legislature to approve the private sale and use of fireworks around the Fourth of July and New Years, then last year, expanded the types that could be sold. Most larger cities have ordinances against the use of fireworks in their city limits, but that doesn't stop some from just going ahead regardless.

Anyway, have a great, healthy and prosperous new year... Thumbsup Thumbsup

HAPPY NEW YEAR BLUE

Fireworks are legal here on holidays. Really wasn't that much in our neighborhood last night.
The many years they were banned never stopped anyone here either.

Greetings, gang.

it's cloudy and 32 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. High for today is supposed to be in the upper 30s with a chance for some light freezing rain/drizzle.

It was a quiet New Years Eve and Day for me. My Xbox 1 S arrived Saturday and has been updating ever since. Massive downloads. After a little reading I found out how to pause the downloads during daytime hours and let it run overnight. The one gigabyte and 14 gigabyte downloads are complete. I still have 18 out of 47 gigabytes to go on the third download. I have a fairly slow connection so it's taking a while.

On tap for today is the continuing project of taking down Christmas decorations. Also need to sort for keepers vs. trash.

All stay safe.

Tom

Happy New Year , everyone , from The Great White North . Snow has been gone for several days now and today is a very clear and bright 40 degrees . I hope 2017 bodes better for us than this past year , but time will tell . I'm continuing , albeit slowly , on my Challenge as well as the rest of my layout but a sore back has slowed me down ......I need to get the X-ray results this week to see what the problem is .

Have a good one !

Greetings, gang.

We have no temperature here in the remote reaches of northern Iowa! Right now it's 0 headed for a high of about 11, so sayeth the NWS. Yesterday was pretty nasty out with 20-30 mph winds and falling temperatures.

My Xbox finally finished updating about 7 yesterday morning. Now I need to lay low on the internet til the wires cool off again. Yesterday was bereavement group followed by playing mindless video games. Today is laundry along with a trip to the gym.

All stay safe.

Good morning all. A bit chilly here, for us locals anyway, but no frost, no snow, no icy roads or even rain, so it's not as bad as in other places.

We have a new sheriff in town starting today. Our old Sheriff Joe, the toughest sheriff in the world, is now the toughest retiree on the planet. Oh, he still has a few court cases to deal with, I just wonder if we are still paying for his defense. Seems like we get hit with paying for both sides of these trials every time an elected official gets charged with anything.

Good morning everyone, a bit slow here on Big Blue, probably everyone is having such a good time with their Christmas presents that they're a bit behind on sharing their news. I don't know when I'll be eligible for anyone to give me modeling presents again, It's been well over a year since we carted my layout to the landfill, knowing that we'd be moving. The base of my new layout is still supporting an air mattress just for appearances, since we're still planning on moving again soon. One day we'll settle down and I can start modeling again.

It's suppose to rain today and tomorrow, I haven't been out yet so I don't know what it looks like. Again, we're with that "10 to 20% chance of rain" thing, where the forecasters can't possibly get it wrong. Temps in the 60's, chilly for us, but I still see folks walking around the stores in shorts and T shirts while us locals are wearing sweaters and jackets.

Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 01-05-2017

Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 1 this morning with an expected high of about 11. The wind is not as bad as yesterday.

In addition to the laundry I caught up on yesterday I decided the kitchen floor needed to be cleaned. While I was cleaning I decided the grill on the front of the fridge needed to be cleaned. Took that off and saw how dirty the coils were. Got the vacuum out and cleaned the front. Then I rolled the fridge out and took off the back. Cleaned the back. Put it all back together and put the fridge back in place. Finished scrubbing the floor. Elapsed time: 1.5 hours for a 15 minute job.

On tap for today is errand running. Need to gas up the car, pay bills, buy groceries, get some cash from the bank, and get a hair cut.

All stay safe.

Tom
