Good afternoon all, getting to the hot part of the day, around 108. Heading for a cold snap though, it's not suppose to get over 100 by this weekend. We'll see...
Uh, Frank, you're going in the wrong direction, you're suppose to downsize around this time in your life, not going bigger. That means, smaller houses, less furniture, fewer toys and just getting rid of a lot of stuff.... We've been going that route for the past few years, and we still have more things than we need.

Another nice day is store for the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Right now it's 64 headed for a high of 84 with lots of sunshine and comparatively low humidity. Mid to upper 90s by the weekend. The electric meter will be spinning.
Had a decent day yesterday. Contractors showed up and cut the boards for the new counter top. After they left I went for a 10 mile bike ride. For supper I drove to a small town about a half hour away. Decent food, decent prices, somewhat limited selection. No ribs! After I got home I decided it was to nice to goof off so I went for about a two mile walk. Said "Hi" to lots of other folks out walking also.
My wife and I always said that we wanted a bigger house so we wouldn't have to run into each other as often.
Not much on tap for today.

Sunny and 91 for today and this will be the coolest of the next several days. Highs through next Tuesday will range from the mid to upper 90s. Unusual for early June.
The new counter is installed and the stove is hooked up . Today I'll finish the sink and electrical outlets.

Being originally from New Jersey, I grew up loving fresh tomatoes. Not the kind you find in grocery stores now where they are gassed to make green ones red, but those red ripe ones fresh out of the garden. I remember when I was very young, my aunt had just picked a bunch of tomatoes out of her garden and said, "Don't touch those tomatoes". Well, as most conniving hungry kids would do, I found a workaround. I knelt down with my hands behind my back and proceeded to eat one of those precious tomatoes without actually "touching" any....

Sunny and 70 with a predicted high in the upper 90s and heat index over 100. Gonna be this way for the next several days.
Spent most of yesterday getting the new kitchen operational. Ran the dishwasher last night for the first time since Sunday. Today I need to buy a basin wrench so I can finish installing the faucet for drinking water. Took about 4 trips to Menards to find the right fittings to get the water line hooked up. Also on tap for today is laundry.

Sun and 89 today. 90s through a lot of next week. For Michigan that is hot enough for me.
Our club's annual meet/cookout is today. So there will be a lot of 3rail train running well into the night.
A trip to Toledo Oh with cousin and wives, since I seldom get down there we visited some family grave sites and then headed off to the casino.
Yeah I lost as usual but not much.

All the laundry is caught up and I managed to get in a bike ride early this morning before it got too hot. Right now I'm puzzling over (or should i say under) the kitchen sink. I put in one of the strainer assemblies and it sealed up nicely. I can't get the second one to seal. I've re-caulked it twice now. Looks like I'm going to have to take it out a third time.
Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to head over to Waterloo to see about a new car.

And a good Monday morning to ya all.... Today is suppose to be cool, temps in the low to mid 90's, almost sweater weather, but fear not, they are forecasting around 114 by the end of this week. Quite a change, around 20 degrees in just a few days, but not unusual for here. We are coming into our "monsoon" season though, unpredictable rain and wind, flooding and a few water rescues where people ignore "do not cross when flooded" signs... Our "dumb motorist" law is suppose to have they pay for the cost of a rescue if they do ignore barricades and signs, but I wonder just how many people actually get charged.
We're still unpacking, and there are boxes a things that will remain as they are for now. Not as much storage inside, but we still have room in the garage for things that we don't need right now. And yes, we are throwing things out and putting together another pile of stuff that can go to charity. Why did we pack them in the first place is beyond comprehension...

Well, yesterday was a little pricey. Drove to Waterloo to see about a new Accord. Dealer started playing games so I left. Drove to Des Moines and wound up driving home in a new Acura TLX. Nice car and I got a surprisingly good deal on it. Nothing planned for today.

64 and a light sprinkle outside my window. Picked up a much needed half inch of rain overnight. High for today is supposed to be in the upper 80s.
After 4 tries I finally gave up on that basket strainer for the new sink. There must have been some flaw that I couldn't find. Went to Menards last night and bought a new one. I'll find out later this morning if it works.
Also on tap for today is a trip to the grocery store.
