Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 70 in the remote reaches of northern Iowa this morning. Right now it's 73 with matching humidity headed for a high of 93. Chance for thunderstorms tonight and much cooler through the weekend.

Drove home yesterday. New car is much more comfortable that the old one. I was actually not too tired when I got home after 11.5 hours in the car. After leaving a rest stop on I94 north of Chicago the exit was under construction so I had to enter the heavily traveled freeway from a standing start. Car made awesome sounds and v-e-r-y fast acceleration!

Here's what I did last week:

The deck is 16X20.

All stay safe.

The deck and the handrails look good. Great job!

Was up early thanks to Wiley. His Mom usually gets up around 6:30 AM. This morning she slept in. Who does he jump on the bed and walk on? ME!!! Took her car for service [way past due as she never checks odometer and reminder sticker] and brake lights out. Top one worked fine. Yes, both bulbs had blown at the same time. Repair facility said unusual. Will watch and make sure all OK. Could be a short causing. Probably not. Dr. this afternoon. Resting now.

Great deck job, Tom. Glad you had a good trip.

Prayers for the folks fighting and having to leave because of wildfires.

Good morning all, waiting for the 116 to show up tomorrow, but then again, they have rain in the forecast for the next few days. It can happen, 116 in the early afternoon, rain and down to 100 later in the day. Our rains and dust storms usually show up around 5 or 6 and last maybe an hour, give or take....

The fire south of Prescott is about 90% contained, glad to see that Ray got back home without any damage to his property. There's still a lot of wildfires going, but here in Arizona and a few other states. Our prayers and thoughts go not only to those that are threatened, but those heroes that are standing their ground fighting these fires.... We still have a few stupid people flying drones over the fire areas, suspending efforts until they clear out. They did arrest one guy here, but others still haven't learned that they are a danger to those fighting the fires from the air. 35 Curse

Gretings, gang.

Sunny and 66 this morning headed fora high of 83 with much lower humidity. Looks to be a nice day.

Big news over at MRR. Neil Besougloff has been laid off. Here's the link to the post: http://cs.trains.com/mrr/f/88/t/263892.aspx

Yesterday I got the yard mowed and hid in the house for the rest of the day. Also got the laundry caught up from my trip. Then last night about 8 the power went out for about two hours. A transformer blew in the neighbors yard. Today I need to pay bills, run the trimmer, clean the sidewalks, feed and bathe the car, and several other minor projects.

All stay safe.

Tom

Morning up. 87/64. Going to be a humid scorcher. Workers here and gone and here and ?????? Not sure what's up for them today.

Me, cooking sliced side meat and then squash/zucchini/onions.

Also, not Catholic but today is Friday and fish day. Guess I will have to go up the street to restaurant.

Suppose to be on rest but who has the time. On tick meds again. They now think that I never actually got rid of RMSF.

Have a good one.

Good morning, 116 and a 20% chance of rain in the forecast for today. Yesterday's forecast of 90% that it wouldn't rain was accurate, Icon_lol not a drop anywhere. We still have a bunch of boxes to unpack, most of them out on the patio. Thank goodness that it's enclosed and covered. I still don't know where I'm going to put a layout, but I do have a place to start working once I do. I have an extra computer desk in my den, just right to use as a work table, I just have to find room to put all those modeling things that are in the boxes, kits, scenery, tools, paints and parts, six large boxes in all not counting the boxes with engines and cars. Will I ever get back into the hobby like I want? I hope so, and soon....

Greetings, gang.

Another nice day in store before the heat moves its road show back into town. Right now it's 59 headed for a high in the low 80s. Tomorrow through Wed. highs are supposed to be in the upper 80s to low 90s with higher humidity.

Yesterday I got the bills paid and the car washed and filled with gas. Got about 38 mpg on the trip home. Very happy with that. Not bad for a moderately high horsepower V6 mid size car. Also got the XM service transferred from my old car.

Today I need to finish the chores I didn't get done yesterday - run the trimmer, edge the sidewalks, clean up all the grass clippings, and maybe go for a bike ride.

All stay safe.

Tom

And a good Saturday afternoon to ya all. Well, they got one thing wrong yesterday. They said it could get up to 116. Wrong... it hit a record 118. The other forecast, 20% chance of rain, they couldn't go wrong there. At 80% chance of no rain, that they got... nary a drop. Today's forecast... I don't care, it's hot, dry and that's about it.

We went up to Owen Sound to see this, part of the Canadian squeaky-centennial celebrations.

Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 70 headed for sunny and 86. Gonna be another warm one.

Saturday I got the yard trimmed and ran the edger to reclaim the sidewalk. Also went for a short bike ride, paid some bills and, and made a small grocery run. Yesterday was spent doing absolutely nothing. Today I"m working at a charity golf event. Have to be thee at 9.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Cloudy and 64 headed for cloudy and 89. Hot and humid today.

Spent most of yesterday at the local golf course. Helped a guy with the "shot cannon." It's a compressed air gun that shoots a golf ball about 400 yards. Lots of fun. Too bad I wasn't registered in the tournament. There was a prize for closest to the hole. While the owner of the shot cannon and I were establishing the best range for the day I landed one within 4 feet of the hole. Closest registered player was 6 feet from the hole. Also finally got the new registration for my car in the mail.

This morning I'm off to get some groceries. Then at 9:30 I have an appointment to get the windows tinted on my car. Not much else planned for the day.

All stay safe.

Greetings, gang.

Sunny and 73 this morning with a predicted high of 90 and high humidity. We should see a heat index of around 100 today. Much cooler tomorrow and Friday but the heat will be back for the weekend.

Got the car back from getting the windows tinted but may have to go back. Looks to be a lot of bubbles in the back window. Last night as I was sitting at my desk I saw a racoon waddle slowly across the street. Not a completely uncommon sight around here. There is a surprising amount of wildlife for being in the middle of town.

Nothing much planned for today. I may go to the county fair for a while but will probably wait until tomorrow when it's a little cooler.

All stay safe.

Tom

Re: Tom's Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 07-13-2017

Greetings, gang.

Partly cloudy and 64 right now with a predicted high of around 80. Feels downright cool outside after the last few days of having overnight lows in the 70s.

Did some piddly work in the yard yesterday morning but it was just too hot and humid to work outside. I did some thinking on a bridge I'm planning for the Backyard & Southern. It will be concrete to survive the animals that frequent the right of way. I'm going to use some 2X6 with an appropriately sized piece of pvc to form the arches. Today will see a trip to Menards to pick up the materials. I already have the Masonite® needed for the sides but need to cut it into strips for the forms.

All stay safe.

Tom

Hello Blue
Rain overnight Hi of 88 today.
No train news.
Took a one day trip to Battle Creek Mi so wife could visit her 81 year old brother.
After the visit we dined and played at the local casino. It is a nice one but Michigan allows smoking, yuck. I think it has to do with the Indian tribal thing as smoking is not allowed in public buildings here.
I am just enjoying summer but our daylight is getting shorter already, it's almost dark by 9:45 now.
