Good morning everyone. Went clothes shopping last night and bought a suit, two sport jackets, a shirt, and a tie for just over 300. Sometimes I love holiday sales!

Modeling related - I'm about finished up with a hotel I started for one of our challenges a few years ago. I like the way it has come out.

Evening all, I have been following along here for a few days and noticed most of the posts are from the morning. By the time I get up, have coffee, feed all the critters, throw some wood in the stove it is time for me to head for work. So I just might have to start a nite shift here.

You need to multi task in the morning. I shave, dress then take out the dogs. My 15 minutes to myself is when I come back in for coffee, cereal and check out the Big Blue on iPad while I eat.

I usually don't get on until 9 pm. Goes back to when my MIL was likely to call with problems anytime, but they stopped when she went to bed.
We're now trying to work it so that I spend more time on the trains than the computer.

Good morning all. I've been a morning person for as long as I can remember, probably starting when I was in Basic Training and just haven't let go since. So yes, I'm here early for our time, I'm on the computer sometimes as early as 4 AM and so I usually post here early in the day for that reason. Then there are those in other parts of the world that have just come home from work about the time I'm getting up. But you're right, the rest of the forum seems to get posts all day long, while this thread has mostly early posts, possibly because it's a good time to sit with a cup of coffee in hand and browse Big Blue while drinking it.

Who knows why we post early, but everyone is welcome no matter what time it is. Welcome Welcome

BTW, it's raining out right now, been so for a few hours. Delightful for sure since it hasn't rained around here since about two months ago. Those forecasters have about a six-day window, so it was hard for them not to be right one of those days.... Nope

Morning all. I try to post morning and night. I checked it at 1 AM EST. Reclinerized through the 11:00 news. Cloudy to partly cloudy. Suppose to be that way for several days. Chilly too. Off to hunting camp until tomorrow night.

Prayers for Fiat's wife and RB.

Good to see more posters.

Have a good one.

Good Morning Blue
We have sun and 27 degrees this morning.
Green grass and dry roads. It can stay this way till April and I would be fine with that.
My favorite train store is following Lionel's as ordered lead. It seems a lot of items are already sold by the time they reach the store.
No train news from home.

Night shift punching in. You clocked in Andy? Cold here and a chance of flurries with more of the same for the morning.

We went to Kitchener Christmas market (Christkindmart) today. Usual collection of German goods, foods and assorted crafts. Railway section with N gauge portable, steam engines (stationary) and a roomful of G.
Had lunch with old friend and gave him copies of a magazine his book store wouldn't stock.
Came home and worked on railway. I'm trying to get some old scenery off a plastic bridge (brick arch). Scenery is over 20 years old and may be a combination of Hydrocal and Polyterrain, but I really don't want to take off all the paint.
Tomorrow it's the train into Toronto and back.

Good morning all. We had a nice rain yesterday starting early in the morning and on through until around noon. It's still a bit damp out, but they warned us about some fog collecting because of all the rain. I got an email from the city saying that we even had flooded streets in a few areas, and where I should go to get sandbags if I needed any. A real nice change from the 100 to 110+ degree days in the not too distant past.

Today is the end of the workweek for a lot of folks, I wish you all the best for the weekend. We avoid the crowds by shopping really early in the morning and stay away at any time during the weekends. Now, just a bit more about our shopping habits; for some strange reason, we've been getting notices about packages that need to be delivered from such places as Costco, Walmart and Target. The obvious tip off is that we've not done any online shopping at any of these places in a long time. Nope Yes, they are scams, trying to get you to click on a link to get a virus. Curse Just don't do it. I couple of things that give it away are, they language is not quite how an English-speaking person would say things, secondly, there are no tracking or invoice numbers to follow and lastly, the links show that they go to somewhere other than the store's website. Just a warning to be cautious. Just like the emails I get that need me to go and refresh my bank or credit card information, especially for my "frozen" online bank accounts that I don't have, or with banks I don't have accounts with at all.

It upsets me that with the technology we have, these kinds of spoofing scams are still allowed to persist. Wallbang

Greetings, gang.

Foggy and 30 degrees this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. High for today is supposed to be in the mid 30s.

Yesterday the physical therapist was here and had My Fair Lady go up the stairs to the landing (8 steps). Huge step forward. Next week we're going to try getting all the way to the second floor (16 steps with landing). We may put a chair in the landing to allow her to rest.

Today will be attic cleaning day. Most Christmas decorations are up. Mostly just putting totes away until we take all the decorations back down again. Also on the agenda for today is paying some bills.

I feel as though I'm moving up in the world. Last week I got my first e-mail saying I have $10 million available through a visa or mastercard. I've recently begun getting e-mails for Rolex watches, Viagra, and all the usual spam. I always felt left out because I didn't get any of that stuff. Interestingly enough, the junk mail is coming to an address I only use to communicate with my financial adviser.

All stay safe.

Tom

AF350 Wrote:EZ Days,

Yup, and it must work for them otherwise they wouldn't continue to do it. I get calls at home all the time from "Microsoft tech support" about my computer having problems, a call from my "favorite grandson". Then there's "Rachel" calling about my credit card account or that guy that says someone has ordered me a emergency call system and all he needs is a address confirmation. All these calls are illegal and just a way of parting me from some money. We've been on the "do not call list" since it started, but that doesn't deter these people. It's been a while since I've been offered to split $10,000,000 with some Nigerian prince, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time before they try again.

The problem is that these scams are becoming more sophisticated and can even trap some with enough experience to know better. Regardless, it take only a few minutes to send out a few million emails and if they get one person to fall and send them hundreds, or even thousands of dollars, that's not a bad day's work....

Re: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VII.. Stop In!!! - Charlie B - 12-05-2014

I have been on the phone for a couple of hours this week trying to get my credit card interest reduced. I was getting 3 calls a day from credit card services, so deciding I had the spare time I gave them a big line to keep them hanging on. I could feel their excitement even over the phone. I had the last guy hooked for 25 minutes, that's when I asked him if they communicated with each other, or had a list of people that wasted their time. He asked what I meant so I told him I had talked with quite a few folks this passed week and had finally told them how I was just wasting their time because if they were legitimate all they had to do was check my credit and they would find I did not have any carry over balances and hadn't had for over 10 years.
They should know not to mess with seniors. I also turned them in to the ftc for spamming and unauthorized calls to a do not call number.
I don't understand why they can't catch these callers. All they need do is have a new phone installed , place the number on the do not call list, and in less than a day it will start ringing. Another example of passing laws without enforcing them.
When I get the phishing emails I always log in with the user name "how stupid are you" and a password that describes so illegal acts. It's funny, but they work too. I can just see them wasting time trying the user and pass word. I think though I will make them look as legit as the email so I too can waste their time.

Prayers for RB. Hope he is back soon.
Charlie
