Re: Freelance 2016-2 - SSWUPinSA - 06-11-2016 Reinhard, was it on your layout that you had a post about using Heki grass mats only, I remember someone having a photo of some scenery with different grass mat codes identified? Cant remember if it was you or Kurt? Re: Freelance 2016-2 - faraway - 06-11-2016 I think it was Kurt. He posted the part numbers he used. I played with late autumn/winter foliage. I mixed a half pack of Noch #07168 (leaf foliage Set Autumn) with water, white glue and indian ink to get a slurry. The indian ink is required to go from beautiful indian summer to rotten winter foliage. IMG_4932 by faraway52, on Flickr The fresh slurry was placed under the trees etc. where I want to have a pile of foliage. When the slurry dried I sprinkled it under trees and pushed it gently into the grass. This small elements are not glued in place as the glue and water would damage the static grass. The base is an Athearn Genesis Conrail Geep. The project was suspended when the layout theme changed to Florida but some unique parts have been ordered from Shapeways and received in the meantime. Re: Freelance 2016-2 - faraway - 06-13-2016 Had a good afternoon and evening. The paint permitted careful working with masking tape and decals. The short hood is the original hood cut horizontally. The dynamic breaks blower on the roof is plated over. IMG_4936 by faraway52, on Flickr Re: Freelance 2016-2 - postman - 06-14-2016 Awesome! I model the CSX railroad but that loco and paint scheme sure is beatiful. This build is inspirational. Re: Freelance 2016-2 - faraway - 06-14-2016 Ready for revenue service. Lightly weathered and equipped with a Tsunami sound decoder and only one LS10x15 sugar cube speaker. My hands and eyes told me to do the grab irons not today.... as well as the road numbers at the cab side yesterday but I did not listen IMG_4946 by faraway52, on Flickr IMG_4945 by faraway52, on Flickr Added more layers of black wash and wiped most of it off. I was surprised to see Bachmann improved it's line of cars called "silver line" as they did with the locomotives. IMG_4974 by faraway52, on Flickr Re: Freelance 2016-2 - faraway - 07-24-2016 Some wall elements of the Atlas Middlesex industry buildings saved from earlier layout themes have been used to convert a background flat into a full building spanning a track. All flat background buildings only are the most convenient scenery for switching. Easy access and a perfect view at all times. It just looks somewhat dull... the 0-5-0 must operate carefully. I need to talk to the crew.... IMG_4996 by faraway52, on Flickr IMG_4997 by faraway52, on Flickr IMG_4998 by faraway52, on Flickr |
