RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 08-20-2018 Well, here we are at the start of yet another work week, or as us retirees say, "just another day in LaLa land".... Heading to Costco this morning. We're in need of a 55 gallon barrel of shower soap, and probably pick up their 25# butter pack and the 24 dozen frozen waffles. Don't know if we'll have enough room in the van for the 50-box pack of tissues though. Yeah, a bit sarcasm there, but what the heck, it's closer to the truth than one would care to think about. They think everyone needs wholesale lots of everything they sell. I guess that's why they call it a "wholesale club"..... RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 08-20-2018 Had Eagles Reunion down east. Was gone most of the day. 1.5 inches of rain over night. May get more this afternoon. Granddaughters [3] coming tomorrow AM to stay a few days. Off to County Commissioners by way of Cabela's. Pick up boots on sale for everyday wear. Have a good one. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 08-20-2018 Greetings, gang. Rain and 67 outside my window this afternoon. That's going to be the high for the day. So far I have about 3.5 inches of rain in the gauge since yesterday morning. Rain should stop later this afternoon. Had a fun weekend in South Dakota. Grandson's team finished 2nd in the hockey tournament. Lots of fun and laughter all weekend. Got in a wrestling match with grandson. Grandpa's still got some skills. The remainder of the day will be a day of rest. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 08-20-2018 Geeze Tom, our low temp for today (90°) doesn't come close to your high.... RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ngauger - 08-20-2018 Frank: The news only reports what they hear. Sometimes that side of the story they hear is the wrong one. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 08-21-2018 Morning. Waiting for DIL at her PD office. Think she works like she wants. Oh well. Got to pickup the 3 Granddaughters. Keeping for rest of the week. OMG. The Chapel Hill thing. PD not doing their job. News media there so it was planned. Someone is going to get hurt. One leader is Socialist Workers Party. Have a good one RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 08-21-2018 Greetings, gang. Foggy and cool this morning in the remote reaches of northern Iowa. Right now it's 61 with a predicted high for today of only 71. Don - if you could send me a few extra degrees for tomorrow and Thursday morning I'd appreciate it. Lows for the next two mornings are supposed to be in the low 50s. Not ready for this. Frank - hope you stocked up on adult beverages to help in dealing with the three young ladies. Got a call yesterday afternoon from one of the Thursday evening group. He had a TIA (mini stroke) over the weekend and will be on the sidelines for a while until tests can be run. Also in the not ready for this category I already have leaves coming down from the trees in front. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 08-21-2018 Good morning all. A slight chance of rain today brought on a slight tinkle this morning. Drops of water on everything, but not enough to even wet the pavement.. Oh well, maybe later.... Got to Costco yesterday, I can't believe there was that many people shopping on a weekday morning. Not all of them looked like retirees, don't they have jobs to go to? The biggest advantage of being retired is going shopping early in the day and not have to deal with crowds or finding a decent parking space. That advantage seems to be waning away, and the snowbirds aren't even here yet. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - BR60103 - 08-21-2018 Don I wonder if the early customers at Costco are running boarding houses or restaurants. There's no way Dayle and I could eat that much food before it turns into something else. Some outfit will be harvesting the crabapples in the Village. Already the sidewalks are a little unpleasant to walk on. We went for a walk with some friends and looked up at the "radish trees". Our crab still has very small yellow fruit. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - FiatFan - 08-22-2018 Greetings, gang. Sunny and quite cool this morning. Right now it's 54 headed for 77 later this afternoon. Quiet day yesterday. Picked up some groceries from a couple of stores and goofed off the rest of the day. Today I need to gas up the car and get a new filter for the furnace. When we moved to this house there was a crab apple tree in the corner of the lot. After a few years of fall messes and flies I took it down. Flash forward a couple of years and younger daughter brings home a tree from school for Arbor Day. I planted the stick in the back yard, figuring that it would die off much like the previous three we had planted for the other kids. Oh, no. The stupid thing actually grew. Yep, another crab apple tree. Finally took it down about 4 years ago. We did save a couple of the bigger branches to make trivets for the daughter. All stay safe. Tom RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 08-22-2018 Yeah David, you can tell that some are by the way they dress, (chef's jacket, scrubs) or the quantities of items in their carts, (six jumbo packs of toilet paper, ten cases of water or soda, a dozen mops). Been a gloomy day yesterday, some rain but as usual, more in some areas than others, and we usually are one of those "others". Rain still in the forecast for the rest of the week, but that's a easy call for this time of the year. Can't believe we're coming into September in a little over a week. Starting to get doctor appointments for 2019 already... RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 08-22-2018 Afternoon. Babysitting three Granddaughters. One 9 and two 7. Don't know how to be quite and entertain themselves. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - sir james - 08-22-2018 Hello Blue A beautiful day in the 70s with low humidity. No A/C doors and windows open. S.J. RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - ezdays - 08-23-2018 Good morning all, can't tell if it rained last night or not, it's staying darker a bit later each day. Time for stores to start displaying their Halloween goods. Going to try to start unpacking some of my N scale train stuff. I've already got my small tools and parts bins put up, now I want to see what kind of storage damage had been done to any of the structures that I saved from my old layout. Not sure what my next move is after that, a new layout or just start off slowly with a few dioramas. I've got the room for a small layout, I just need to manage my time and buy a bunch of track. I did save most of the turnouts from the layout though it wasn't worth the time to try to recover any of the track. I just don't know what shape anything is until I unpack and inspect it all since some of it's been in boxes for a few years now... RE: The Hobo Camp Fire Is going well #VIII.. Stop In!!! - Chief Eagles - 08-23-2018 Long Human Services meetings day. Left at 6:30 AM and arrived at 5:30 PM. Tired. Grands got hollered at. Now quite. Class A engine fixed and shipped. Chuff switch replaced. |
