I've downloaded a copy for the archives. I have some 1/4" to the Foot US O scale cars to complete and for these cars, I'll be giving the entire treatment. Love your work by the way. I have a couple of tank cars (Walthers short corn syrup cars) that need to have the brake rodding and piping done for them. Been holding off forever. Feel a lot more confident now that I can make a go of them. Thanks for sharing. RE: Representing Brake Gear - More Art Than Science - iandrewmartin - 04-11-2020 More on the chain issue; While going through my stash of modelling stuff today I found the chain that I have. Picture below: Again 40 links per inch but seems very fine and black so it hides quite well. Knew I had some somewhere. In my O scale stuff and not my HO scale stash. I'm looking to upgrade at least one of my previously completed cars using chain just to see how it looks. I'll keep you informed as I go. RE: Representing Brake Gear - More Art Than Science - doctorwayne - 04-11-2020 I've always admired Ted's work, and have a shelf-load of his books on various freight cars, which are a great aid for model building. I have several such cars on my to-do list. Wayne RE: Representing Brake Gear - More Art Than Science - tetters - 08-27-2020 I feel like I'm a little late to this party. I started to tumble down this rabbit hole recently too. If my layout wasn't close to chest height I probably wouldn't even have given this a shot. I've done three builds like this so far. This was my first attempt at doing brake detail like this. I'll probably finish the rest of the kits I have in the same manner as I like how it looks when I view the layout at eye level. RE: Representing Brake Gear - More Art Than Science - doctorwayne - 08-27-2020 Nicely done, Shane!
