N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge - ngauger - 02-23-2020 In G or more accurately 1:20.3. https://image.shutterstock.com/z/stock-photo-railroad-repair-shop-with-roundhouse-and-turntable-1077917591.jpg Something like the building only, No turntable. 2 stalls for engines, tools and work benches. I'll have to install lead in switches and tracks in addition to building the structure. It will be made with wood, as most all of my projects. List - 1st draft:
RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge (16" X 16") :) - ngauger - 02-23-2020 Starting Pictures The switch is just laying there for reference. It is not connected to the main line. RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge (16" X 16") :) - ngauger - 02-26-2020 Well, every new idea needs to be drawn out to find any unforeseen issues. I usually do this in my head as I go, but this building had to be drawn out so "I" could see where I'm going with this. The floor plan showing the approximate positions of the 2 tracks. I had to combine the work/tool area inside the floor plan, since 3 stalls is way too large for the area I have on the layout. It turned out to be 12-1/2" wide X 7-1/2 deep, with a 2" overhang above the doorways making it 9-1/2 deep overall. RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge (16" X 16") :) - ngauger - 02-26-2020 The side view showing the overhang RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge (16" X 16") :) - ngauger - 02-26-2020 Finally, the front view. The red areas are the structure and the center support. The purple is a screened ventilation area in case we ever want to use steam engines. The green areas are the roof lines as shown on the side view. RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge (16" X 16") :) - ngauger - 02-26-2020 Next Step: Deciding what kind(s) of wood and other materials to use to build it. RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge - ngauger - 03-09-2020 I have begun the frame of one side wall RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge - Tyson Rayles - 03-10-2020 A new use for paint paddles! RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge - ezdays - 03-10-2020 I wonder what that would look like at 1:160???? We would have to use toothpicks rather than paint paddles. Good start. RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge - ngauger - 03-15-2020 The other side wall frame is complete. Here are both sides so you don't think I just turned the first one around RE: N-Gauger's 2020 one foot challenge - doctorwayne - 03-16-2020 It looks to me as if you're planning to go with natural weathering, rather than a painted finish, as you've already used-up the paint-mixing sticks.
