Now I am no expert on lionel trains. I have just lived thro all of Lionel's attempts to make and sell HO scale trains. I've see alot of them. I have a few of their cars and locomotives. My reason for having them is their use of the English ( John English-HObbyline ) dies to create their first Lionel made locomotives. Mainly the pacific 4-6-2 type. When they made their pacific they slightly changed it. The placed a square cover atop the boiler against the cab. Above this they put a turret cover. The turret cover inclosed the valves and piping that feed steam for auxiliary uses. The square cover was large enough to look like a small belpare firebox top the size used on the PRR K2 locomotives. The Pennsy is one of my main roads. The USRA tender Lionel used also looked like a PRR tender so if the price was right I aquired a PRR K2 pacific.
Here is one of my PRR K2's I got this way. PRR #5730. The tender is a Bachmann tender.

Here is the basic Lionel Pacific 0625LT. The LT stands for light, it had a headlight. It was aviable for the first two or three years. After that the 0626LT was aviable for the remained of time these locos were made by Lionel.

The middle Pacific. Lionel #0635LTS. LT meant light. S meant smoke. 0635 came with light and smoke. This loco as with the 0625lt was made for the first two or three years. Lionel #0636LTS replaced it for the final years.

Now comes the top dog of the Lionel Pacifics, the 0645LTS with whistle. For some reason Lionel didn't put a W in the desiniation number. The whistle was in the tender. The tender used was a modified Hobbyline Berkshire 2-8-4 tender. You have proably seen the plactic kit that HObbyline had made. Their also was a 0646LTS and a 0647LTS that had a whistle.

I still have some more Lionel HO to add to the thread. I have a GP7, Union Pacific # 5402. It is has dynamic breaks and a cold weather hatch. If you nitice it has a Athearn drive. I like the way Lionel mounted the horns. They are in a more proper location for early GP's. When repainting for the CNJ the horns are correct.

i had a GP 30 numbered T12020 i think is correct . it was CPR and made by lionel. it had the pancake drive from bachmann. I just recently sold it to a guy in the USA. I got it used when I was a kid so it has to be over 30 years old

No pictures but it was not as great a locomotive

Lionel had a few small diesels. One was the UP Hussler. Very much like the Athearn Hussler. The Lionel was gear driven. Mine is a little beat up .

The Lionel PRR B6. For this loco Lionel used the Hobbyline body for the PRR A5. This makes the B6 a little smallish. I had a pair of these in the past and even ran them doubleheaded. Here is a old photo of my long gone layout taken in 1982 showing the doubleheaded Lionel 0-6-0s on a background track.

Here is a Lionel 0-6-0 B6. This version by Lionel has the headlight centered on the Smoke box door. Other versions are more Pennsy with the generator foward of the smoke stack and a headlight mounted high on the smoke box door.

It looks like it is time for some Lionel HO cars. The first is a Lionel crane. #0889 is the only HO crane i've seen with solid wire holding up the boom. The boom stays in place due to a griping tension put on the wire by rubberbands. The boom is easy to move by hand and the tension provided will hold the boom in whatever position you move it to. #0889 is a Illinois Central MWW #200.
