PROTO 2000 BUSHINGS
#1
I have several Proto locomotives. They have begun to run very poorly. I turned one of them upside down for inspection. There was too much space between the gear on the axle and wheel allowing the bushing to move toward the center to far and come out of the notch it rides in. This results in a loose axle and loss of electric contact.. Has anyone else had this problem?

Lester,

Check the axle itself for cracks. What may be happening is that the axle is cracked, allowing the wheel to slip out of gauge, and then sliding the bushing out of position.

I guess I should have checked the gauge first. It was staying on the track just didn't run.
