I just bought this from Lee Valley (in Canada)

The stores were selling substandard examples for $10. (Finish not up to scratch, or possibly too scratched).
Nice unit, with 10 threads each for NC and NF and 8 metric. NC and NF sizes from 1 to 12 (with gaps) and 1/4"; metric M1.6 tp M6.0.

Little bolts with big knurled heads that screw into a metal plate. You can use the bolts or the plate to check screws, nuts or tapped holes to see what size is needed.
Unfortunately, does not do BA/Whitworth threads.

In model railroading, there are between six and two hundred ways of performing a given task.
Most modellers can get two of them to work.
