Chopped nose with Atlas parts
#1
I fond somewhere (sorry forgot the forum) a hint that Atlas SD24 parts can be used to build a Geep with a chopped nose.
Atlas has plenty of parts at fair prices and ships oversees at a low letter like rate.

A quick shot after 15 minutes fiddling with a P2K geep hood. It is not perfect but a nice alternate starting point for the not so gifted kit/shell bashers.

Faraway,

I have always read where chopping and splicing shells to model specific locomotives in RMC and the nolonger in ptint Model train journal. Never gave it a try as I was transitioning to O and S gauge trains, but still find them interesting.

Faraway,

Looks like a good start. What road will it be?

I made it freelance and used biL's decals

However, to be a more universal starting point the front window should be modified into two smaller windows and the standard high geep nose cut to size might better than the Atlas sloped nose. The Atlas window and nose look very much like the GP20. Most geep rebuild have a level nose and two windows.

The SP had slanted chop nose GP9's almost identical to your kitbash, including the single window!
