The Mogollon Railroad
Two things I want to mention:

1) Having 22 inch radius curves rather than 18 makes a HUGE difference in HO. I always assumed if one was using 50 foot or shorter cars it would not make much of a difference, but it does. 2-8-0s perform better, trains look better, and track smoother.

2) I resisted for a long time, but cheap latex caulk works EXCELLENT for gluing track and foam. I was always skeptical thinking that something designed as an adhesive would work better. So, I would use yellow glue, construction adhesive, or other glues. Caulk is about 2 bucks a tube, sets up fast, is sticky, and holds well.

Nice to see the layout back to life!

Bumping up the radius is always a good thing... always!

I was also reluctant to use latex caulk. I used it on my Harlem layout and was very pleased. Makes track laying a fast and effective process.

Two photos of progress...

I cut out the main chunk of the town with all the trackwork and used it for the main portion of the shelf, about 24" wide and 7' long. The rest of the shelves to go around the room are all new. I've got one more section of track to connect from the old layout to the new shelf, and then the trackwork is all back to being operational. I'm saving some of the scenery by cutting it apart and gluing it to the new portions of the layout. So far, I'm happy with how it is working out.
