Free Layout Tour (Oct. 10-13) San Luis Obispo/Santa Barbara

Model Railroads of Southern California’s fortieth layout tour takes place on Thursday through Sunday, October 10 through 13.

This will be a free self-guided tour of twenty-two layouts and one historic toy train display at fifteen locations throughout San Luis Obispo and northern Santa Barbara Counties, CA. This tour is part of the Central Coast Railroad Festival (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://ccrrf.com/">http://ccrrf.com/</a><!-- m -->). Be sure to visit the CCRRF website for additional railroad events the same days as the layout tours.

Four home layouts, three club layouts and one display are appearing for the first time on our tour program: George Gibson’s DK & Pacific Mountain Railway (HO & HOn3), Ed Morse’s garden railroad, Robin White’s R & P Railroad (N), the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum’s outdoor garden railroad, the Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum’s Lionel and HO layouts, and Ken Lau’s 1935 to 1955 Marx toy train display.

Altogether there will be eight HO layouts, two HOn3 layouts, four N scale layouts, two O scale layouts, one On30 layout, four garden railroads and one Fn3 layout.

Be sure to check the Model Railroads of Southern California website the day before the tour to check for any changes to the schedule or layout lineup.

If you cannot make this tour more tours are scheduled including a small layout tour the following week as part of the Banning Train Festival on October 19 & 20, and a tour in conjunction with the NMRA/PCR Convention on April 30 to May 4, 2014.

Another tour may be schedule for next February in conjunction with an event I am planning for the Anaheim Packing House to celebrate the railroads and the citrus industry.

Santa Maria Valley Railway Historical Museum – Operating layouts set up in the box car at the museum just off Miller Street, which is just south of Santa Maria Transit Center. Enter parking lot from service road off Boone Street.
Robin White – Must park on Cienaga Street (Highway 1) and make short walk to home at Space #28.
