Thank you!! I'm very keen on doing hybrid of this system and the one with barrel lock on the face, just need to engineer the mecanism to tranfer the left to right movement to a lateral movement, not impossible!

I had planned using cam locks

placing it below the skewer on the front of the layout, by cutting a notch in the cam, which when lock would go over the skewer, the point being locked for the main by means of one of those choc block connectors thread on the skewer,when unlocked the cam would rotate away from the skewer and let the point move for the siding, but never did anything more about it.

depending on make you can get cam locks which use the same key, this makes it easy, as only need one key for all the locks
