(you did know that it was a pagan celebration thousands of years before Christianity appeared, right?) 8-)

No, I think you're confusing that with Halloween or some other day of the year. Christmas, December 25, celebrates the birth of Christ 2016 years ago.

Don, MountainMan means the festival of Saturnalia. Many archeolists Estimate that he was born in the early fall and that The Romans made Saturnalia the celebration of Christ's birth to help convert Pagans to Christianity. I wasn't there, so I'm not going to argue it's validity. What matters to me more than anything is being with family & friends. While I am not deeply religious, I do not like the commercialism that has become the meaning of Christmas. What's great about Big Blue is the comraderie that is given year round.

Happy Holidays everybody.

All I remember is that Halloween was once some sort of pagan holiday, but I could be wrong about that too. For any of these holidays, I don't think what was celebrated in the past matter as much as what the reason is that we celebrate today.

Exactly Don. I always looked at Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas as an opportunity to see family. It sounds weird to some people, but I am a weird softy that way. I wasn't even the one who would wait eagerly for Santa or wake up everybody Christmas Morning. I actually liked shopping for people and buying gifts that made people happy.

Now that I have a two year old, Christmas is even more fun. She doesn't understand the holidays just yet, but she loves being around family - so I guess that she sort of gets it.
