PEIR's "Get of yer duff challenge"

I've had next to no time to work on the layout so I decided I needed to change that. I finished the benchwork except for a couple of small pieces. This challenge will be to install insulboard for sound deadening and get the track down and with any luck get it wired. I'm going to give myself one week to get this finished.

Progress has been slow. My left hip and lower back have been giving me lots of aches and pains lately but I did get some track down and power it temporarily. Since this is more of a industrial area I don't know if I should use sub bed for the track or just leave it on the insulboard. Thoughts?

I'd leave the track at ground-level, rather than on roadbed. This makes it easier when adding the industries, especially ones for which products or materials are loaded or unloaded manually, as most structures' loading doors are at or near the proper height without roadbed.

What's the material you're using for the layout top in your second photo? It reminds me of a building product which used to be quite common around here as a sheathing material on wood-framed buildings. I believe that it was called Donnacona Board. Apparently, it's still around and is used primarily as a soundproofing agent...probably a good use under track.

I'm not sure of what it is actually called. It is sound deadening but the last time I had bought some it didn't have any black on it.
