Brooklyn 1st Ave waterfront
I got all the sidewalk barrier/railings made, its a rough fit but i think it'll work. Bruce, i finally started a boxcar with the decals you traded with me. Lastly i got a NY & Atlantic mp15ac to bring the locomtoive roster to 3, now i just need to start building the Bay Ridge Branch section..

The building is looking good. Nice paint job on the loco, very sharp looking!

Thank you Mike. I just recently realized that the NYA black & green scheme was inspired by the old long island rr orange & grey scheme

Railings for the loft building are painted and set in place. I also started building another background building along the back corner of the layout, and a street view image of the prototype building.

That will become a wonderful "boring" building. The prototype is full of that kind of buildings that will never be done by Cornerstone. How did you do all the perfect window openings? Did you get a laser cutter or an extra load of patience?

Thank you Reinhard but if you look at the windows closely they're far from perfect. I used a tool from micromark called a nibbler. Its basically a square hole punch, its definitely helpful but takes a toll on your hand after a while and makes a pretty big mess.

This background building is now painted. Next will be details, a roof and weathering. Im considering some interior details also like offices or something. We'll see

Continuing on with background buildings, the next building and a quarter got brick textured styrene sheets, door and window openings. I hope to have these buildings ready for paint tonight.

Also i went to home depot to get shelf brackets so that i can start the new portion of the Bay Ridge Branch. While taking some measurements i started to think that instead of including Glenwood mason supply i would replace it with the railroad crossing at Flushing Ave in Queens. Although this crossing is not located on the Bay Ridge Branch it is on the Bushwick Branch. I think this crossing would bring a lot of visual interest with animated crossing signals and the train passing through a building and over another roadway. So the question is do I keep it prototypical Bay Ridge Branch or lean on the crutch of freelance and add the crossing? Here's some photos from google of the crossing.

I think that you've answered your own question
before you'd even asked it.  Nothing wrong with a layout being "visually interesting".

Brooklyn & Greenville Railway has acquired a slug unit. It'll be paired with the sw1200 and be assigned to all carfloat, yard and 1st ave switching duties.
