When the United States entered WW1 the railroads proved unable to cope with the increased traffic and the United States Railroad Administration (USRA) was established to standardize railroad equipment designs,including 12 locomotives types.Eventually a few of these locomotives,in particular 2-8-2 Mikadoes and 2-10-2 Santa Fe's made their way to Canada.Here's one of Uncle Sam's steam engines that ended up north of the US border---ex GTW S3A #3734

Here is the  Norfolk Southern OCS train today (8-19-19) headed West on the Pittsburgh line through Jeanette, Pennsylvania.
